I had a lot of fun with these in my youth. I wanted a Jokermobile sooooo damn bad.

I did not grow up with a lot of money & my allowance was only $3-5 per week in the 1970's. In order to get these bigger toy items I had to ask for them for Christmas or my birthday.

Pretty much all my Megos were birthday or Xmas presents. The only things I remember buying for myself were Green Arrow and Captain Marvel/Shazam. Me three. The only time I got new toys were Christmas and Birthday presents, and occasionally for a good report card. I used to get a quarter a week for allowance when comics were 25 cents each. Shortly after that my folks bought their first house and money got tighter so I no longer got allowance. Again only birthday or Christmas money from relatives, I didn't get my own money again until I turned 16 and could get a job (with occasional money earned for raking leaves or some such when my parents let me work odd jobs, which was rarely as my mom was overprotective and I couldn't do anything like that unless they already knew the people I was working for or one of them could be there to watch over me, and since they both worked (weekends too usually) that rarely ever happened. I think they tried to make it up to me at Christmas and birthdays when they could afford it, but new toys was mostly a twice a year thing unless some kind of special occasion reared up. I did get spoiled a bit by my godparents at Christmas and birthdays too though, as both were single and living in my grandfather's 3 family house relatively expense free, so they often splurged on their nieces and nephews, and I double dipped at godchild too. -M

I had a lot of fun with these in my youth. wait a dang minute. . . how the heck is a "bat net trap" gonna do anything other than Annoy Mxy? (and Joker wouldn't let Riddler drive his van!).

I had the Spider-Man Crime Lab.... -M I love these toys that make no sense in terms of characterization, but are fun nonetheless. Batman was so much easier to market than Spider-Man, for obvious reason.

MEGO, for sure. The Type 2 body remains the Gold Standard for action figures IMHO. Here's Phil Maurice and younger brother Wes circa 1978 posing with our respective obsessions:
Of everything in the photo, only Mjolnir still exists (because of course it does). I've managed to replace all but Iron Man and Thor.
Wes remains a hardcore Star Wars fan/collector even today, making a killing on items he picked up for a song way back when and channeling the profits into even more jaw-dropping pieces. He is the more serious of us two, regarding my infatuation with superheroes as novel at best.

Wow, lots of good memories to be found here. I had quite the toy collection from my youth, ranging from G.I. Joe to Transformers to Voltron to Centurions to Masters of the Universe to MASK to Star Wars etc. Unfortunately, we hit a rough patch a few years back when I got laid off so I had to sell a large chunk of my collection in order to help pay bills. Did anyone have one of these? I sold it along with most of my original figures along with a Sky Striker (with Ace). I still have the first Storm Shadow figure with file card somewhere. And I still have a Sky Hawk vehicle too. I loved Gobots, perhaps even more than Transformers (I certainly seem to remember loving the cartoon as well). I had a bunch of them but ended up selling them as well. Turns out I had a rare Cy-Kill figure whose color scheme was green and black instead of his usual red and blue. I sold all of my Gen 1 Transformers but kept Jetfire because his design was based off of a Macross veritech design. I'm a HUGE Robotech fan but I had to bite the bullet and sell some of those toys as well. The one I regret and miss the most is Gakken's Cyclone toy from Mospeada/Robotech New Generation. Y'see, back then, I convinced my mom to order this toy for me from one of the store ads in Comico's Robotech books. I wanted this one the most back then so I passed over another RT toy that has since become my Holy Grail to acquire, the SDF-1: And did someone mention a Hulk utility belt? I had one! The only item I have left from it is the communicator. Beam me up Bruce!

I sold all of my Gen 1 Transformers but kept Jetfire because his design was based off of a Macross veritech design. Bandai reissued the original Macross Valkyries several times over the past decade or so, in case you're looking for the original color schemes and unaltered nosecone. I've got five of them because (I suspect) I love Robotech as much as you do I have the figure itself but never owned any of the attachments. I'd love to change that one day! Respect, man. Respect.

I'm sure you'll find a few things of interest. classiccomics.boards.net/post/32038The collection has grown a bit since then (I've added a third display cabinet), but this gives you the general idea of my interests.

Anyone else have the SuperJock toys? I had basketball... football... and hockey... there was baseball and maybe soccer (futbol) but I didn't have either of those... By pressing the head you would activate their sports move (shoot the basketball, kick the football, shoot the puck, etc. -M

I have the figure itself but never owned any of the attachments. I'd love to change that one day! The missile pods that attach on his arms were cool but unless I was doing something wrong, I never could get the missiles to fire even though it looked as if they could via the little blue buttons atop them.

A great collection indeed. The Valkyries are a classic sleek design, never get tired of them. Sadly, the only ones I own at the moment are Jetfire as I mentioned before and Toynami's 1/55th Masterpiece Collection edition of Rick Hunter's VF-1J. While the Valkyries are cool, I've always been more attracted to the Alpha fighters. Yes, the design is bulkier but for some reason, I find them more appealing. The only one I own at the moment is Toynami's 1/55th Masterpiece Collection edition of Scott Bernard's VFA-6H. Any interest in either fighter design from Macross Plus? And while Macross II may be frowned upon by fans, I've always loved those Valkryie designs as well. As for Voltron toys, I did own these: The size differential is off but when combined, they did make for a very nice figure. Though I eventually sold it on eBay too. (Even got a hearty thank you message from the buyer over the letter I included with the figures explaining how exactly to transform the lions and combine them)

The only one I own at the moment is Toynami's 1/55th Masterpiece Collection edition of Scott Bernard's VFA-6H. I have a few of those. From the picture, you can see that I have an original vintage Gakken Legioss fighter, as well as Rook's MPC Alpha. Since then I've added Lancer's MPC Alpha as well. While I like the sculpt and overall look of the MPC Alphas, their durability and build quality are absolutely terrible. They typically go on eBay for at least $100 or more, which I think is outrageous considering how easily they fall apart. The only way I would pick up any of them is if they were selling close to retail price, which is what I picked mine up for. If you like VF-1 toys, you really owe it to yourself to look into the 1/60 scale toys from Yamato/Arcadia. Sadly, they are out of print now but they are considered pretty much the best versions of the toys out there. A close second might be 1/100 scale Hi-Metal R toys from Bandai. I have an Arcadia YF-19. I've also added the VF-0D and VF-0A from the Macross Zero series, and I have a VF-4G that's on it's way soon from Japan. I'm not the biggest fan of Macross II, but I heard that a toy of the VF-2SS was recently released in Japan: www.hlj.com/product/EVT57191/ActI used to have that set as well. Toynami has released several masterpiece versions of that toy, but in trying to make the robot form look more lean and athletic, I think they went off the rails. I prefer the bulkier, boxy look of the old toy.
