There's a search box over towards the top-right of the forum - does it actually do anything which might equate to searching? I've tried to find stuff using it and it never seems to do anything useful.
I don't know whether I'm not using it correctly, or whether it functions in a rather odd way, but it doesn't seem to work like any other search box.
Is it just me?

Hmm. After a bit of experimenting, it does seem to be doing something. Is there any way to get it to return the matched posts rather than threads? Or limit the search to thread titles rather than (apparently) every single word in the thread (which, bearing in mind how prolix erudite many posters are, means that virtually every thread includes half the words known to mankind. Kind of like a 'finite monkeys' attempt at Shakespeare)

I have been using this proboards system for more than 10 years and I find it not a very practical thing for me to use and I just ignore that feature altogether.

It's there for convenience if you are looking for a keyword in a thread you are already browsing, but the more advanced search function is on the top menu bar and can also be found using this link. Far superior.

As shaxper points out, the advanced search is the only one worth bothering with. If that fails to locate what you're looking for, I have found that going to Google Advanced Search, here... www.google.com/advanced_search...and entering the key words I'm looking for in the "all these words:" box, then typing classiccomics.boards.net/ in the "site or domain:" field and searching that way gives great results.
