Star Trek: TOS is the only Trek-related show that I have any time for. I'm currently working my way through all three series (I'm nearing the end of Series 2 at the moment). I agree that there are some hokey episodes, but by and large the stories are fantastic (in the first two series especially). What it lacks in big budget or slick special effects, it more than makes up for in the chemistry between Spock, Kirk and McCoy. Having watched random episodes of ST:TNG, DS9, ST:Voyager, and the re-booted film franchise over the years, there's nothing even remotely approaching that kind of character chemistry in any of those spin offs IMHO. This. And also , TNG was so advanced that it felt they had all the problems solved against their opponents. It wasn't until the Borg was introduced that you felt any type of real danger. The addition of a Number 1 like Ryker also watered down the command structure . It felt like there were 2 captains.

Grew up watching Star Trek along with Batman and Tarzan with Ron Ely in the late 60's. That was my TV trinity then! Anyway I will always put ST:TOS first . I did like ST:TNG. Icctrombone I felt Riker was the Captain for away team missions. By the time DS9 came along I quickly lost interest. I think I watched about a 1/3 of the episodes. With Voyager I think I saw 3-4 episodes total. I actually watched the entire Enterprise series and liked it overall. The movies were hit or miss. Liked 2,4,6. I don't even remember the TNG movies. The reboot movies were OK. I have only seen one episode of the new Star Trek on CBS All Access. It just didn't hold my interest. I may check out the series with Pike. That interests me.

I love pretty much the entire MCU (except maybe Incredible Hulk) but, having just watched it again, I can confidently say that The Incredibles remains the best super-hero movie ever made.
Cei-U! I summon the blue ribbon!

I summon the blue ribbon! Just goes to show that as it was with the comics, The Fantastic Four should have been the world's greatest comic-book movie. Alas... while it was, in a sense, it was under an assumed identity.

Best superhero movie for me might be the first Iron Man. Guardians is a lot of fun, and Monsters Vs. Aliens for the animated ones deserves a mention for fun too... but Robert Downey Jr. made Tony Stark more real than the comics character, and I can't really say that about too many others, maybe Halle Barry as Storm and McKellan as Magneto.

4K quality is great but do I really need to upgrade my home video collection to it?
Well maybe some of it....
There, I 4k'd it.
Why upgrade? Our eyesight only gets worse as we age. Will the difference be that much more noticeable and/or appreciated or important? Now if I could afford a television to cover an entire wall, maybe I might buy in. Otherwise, not that big a deal to me. Recorded straight from television, VHS, standard DVD quite fine by me.
Well, not everything, but definitely some of it.
Someone gave me an early Christmas present, Mad Max on 4k (1st film not that crazy remake from a couple years ago)...and I like it.

4K is not necessary, but it sure is pretty. If you happen to have a TV that can do it, there's no reason not to get that 4K version...

I threaten my kids with Fantastic Four movies. "If you don't (insert household chore here) I'll make you watch Rise of the Silver Surfer again!" When they're really naughty I up the stakes and mention the Roger Corman version. They usually fall into line pretty quickly.

I wish more musicians or their labels remastered their music videos from the 80s and 90s into crispy HD.
I want my, I want my, I want my MTV....
There, I said it

I'll watch the Corman one long before the later drivel. It actually had a decent story (just bad effects, some actors, shot poorly...etc)

I don't know if I would say best superhero movie; but, for me, the best translation of a comic book to the movie screen is the original Hellboy film. Rocketeer is pretty close, even if they watered down Betty and had to lose Doc Savage, Monk & Ham. Howard Hughes and Neville Sinclair worked out pretty well. Still, no superhero film embodies heroism, to me, more than the first Reeve Superman, though Captain America, The First Avenger and The Winter Soldier come pretty darn close.
