I love my Martial Arts english dubbed DVD's so much! They remind me of seeing them all on all nighter's at the drive-in with my dad. I can relive the glorious 70's over anytime with watching 'em. Those Sonny Chiba movies are great but even better are the Shaw Brother's movies. And nothing is better than Godzilla dubbed movies. Oh the memories!

Funny you should mention Sonny Chiba....I got Shogun's Ninja this week.
Shaw Brothers movies were done so cheaply but are still fun...I have Kid With The Golden Arm somewhere.
But I admit, watching all those Statham, Seagal and Jet Li movies was why I stayed on with karate class.

But for my current kung fu fix, nothing beats Warrior Season 1 and 2 on Cinemax/HBO Xtreme. This clip has no cussing or nudity, both of which I like.

Kung Pow & Shaolin Soccer are good but for me Kung Fu Hustle hits the ol' funny bone hardest while still having some seriously wicked comic book/cartoon martial arts action.
For me though, I am a big Venom's fan. All their fight and stunts are some of the BEST choreographed action. Plenty of humor to be found as well and not the over the top kind like Jackie Chan infuses his movies with.

There's a lot to like about Kung Fu Hustle, but the tonal schizophrenia ultimately ruined it for me.

Chain-smoking 70-80 cigarettes per day is stupid.
But some of the most creative people on the planet did it...Fleming, Rod Serling.
I used to smoke socially, a pack could last me a month....but gave it up when I got preggers.
There, I don't light one up anymore.

Someone once told me that each cigarette you smoke knocks 3 minutes off your life. But isn’t there a solution to that? If you smoke 10 cigarettes a day, just wake up 30 minutes earlier - and gain back that time. I think!

They are one of the more famous metal bands out there and have been since the 80s and 90s, but I can see how they might not make the radar of folks not specifically into the heavy music scene. Ok, replace them with these guys who I am confident almost anyone who is remotely aware of mainstream music over the last few decades has heard of. Also 1986. Ah! I have heard of them. They were in the Darwin Awards movie. |

Yeah, most people awake during the 90s have probably at least heard of Metallica. That's more accurate to include in a "household name" list than Slayer, admittedly.

I dunno....both Fleming and Serling died in their early 50s...waking up earlier didn't help.

ps The video says it's the Season 1 intro; but, the footage is from the mess that was Season 2, with Wilma turned into a glorified stewardess (complete with outfit) and the premise became a reverse Battlestar Galactica.
