Whether characters who pop up regularly or only appeared once or twice, who are your top three favorites that have had a lasting impact upon you?

The easy answers are Gen, Jotaro, and Tomoe, because we've gotten to know them so well in the series, and I think their relationships with Usagi help define him so much.
But I'd like to consider less central characters who I just happen to enjoy as characters, like Sanshobo or Chizu or Ino.
And I'd feel guilty about making any such list without including Spot.
I don't know. I'll get back to you.

1. Gen is the character that really sucked me in at the beginning, always love the interaction between him and Usagi. They really are best friends.
2. Sasuké the Demon queller is the character which I would really enjoy seeing appear in more stories, maybe learn more about his backstory (and his secret connection to the Mike Mignola Universe).
3. Inspector Ishida is the other character which I would love to see more of, mainly because I feel he could carry any number of stories on his own, and a "Law and Order: Edo" type of series would be a perfect fit for him.

Gen is the easy answer... partially because he's such a great character. I've often thought if Usagi was a Big 2 property Gen would have had his own series long ago. I know she's not popular around here, but Kitsune is a close 2nd for me.. I love her contrast to Usagi, and the stories she's in are always good.
3rd would be a tough call... I think I'd got with Jotaro . Their interactions are always fun.

1. Tomoe 2. Gen 3. Chizu
One and two are locks. After Gen and Tomoe, there are a lot of characters I like that could be at number three.

1. Sasuke the Demon Queller. The stories with Sasuke in them are always fun. 2. Gen. Such a great contrast to Usagi, while being a very complex character in his own right. 3. Hmmm... probably Inspector Ishida, but there's a lot of great supporting characters. I always look forward to the stories featuring other big characters alongside Usagi.

I was excited to hear about the creation of this Usagi fan community, as I really enjoy being a member of the UY Dojoboard. I would love to see Sasuke make another appearance soon, or even see an issue centered around him that doesn't feature Usagi at all, like After the Rat was for Inspector Ishida.

I think I'm still drooling over Yokai. I never expected him to take center stage in that one. But I agree that a solo story or a lead role in a multi-parter would be amazing!

The mystery is always so much of the fun. I would like a better sense of who Sasuke was before the big tragedy (which I won't reveal here) that put him on his path, and I'd love to learn more about his wife and why she went down the path she did, but no; I don't want to know everything. However, Sasuke and the being he receives orders from are both based on Japanese mythological characters, right? Looking them up might provide some answers.

Shoki, the guy that Sasuke takes orders from, was originally a Chinese mythological character, and his legend spread to Japan where he was given the name "Shoki" (I think). I've done some research on him after seeing him in Traitors of the Earth, and he has a pretty interesting story. Sasuke himself has numerous inspirations, including a famous ninja who may or may not be real, and the story of Shoki. There might be others I'm forgetting about, too. I was once reading about Sasuke's inspirations on the internet, and was surprised to see that there is a Japanese obstacle course show called "Sasuke"!

Gen pulled me into the franchise. Kitsune made sure I'll never leave.
Third is a very complicated call.
- Tomoe is one that grew on me, but I'm not sure she'd be there. - I like Jotaro a lot, but I think the "should I tell him" situation is dragging its feet. - I think I'd settle for Jei, since Inazuma is gone. - Sakura shows promise but, so far, we haven't seen enough of her.
Also, I'm sure Stan would do either a Sasuke or Ishida solo series if he had more time. He seems to have so much fun with those characters.

He has so many rich characters deserving of their own series. If we could clone Stan, there could easily be an entire Usagi Yojimbo Universe
