The idea of the Gallery Editions, created from the original artwork, got me wondering about how much of the original art Stan has held onto. I'm assuming he has all the original art photographed for the new Gallery Editions, but how far down the line does that extend? Does he sell original pages or has he retained it all? It's been so long since I saw Stan at a convention that I honestly can't remember if he had original pages for sale.
Man, I could only imagine owning the original artwork to the first page of Albedo #2...

Stan sells original covers, but not original pages (except in a few very special cases, I think). He also sells pages that were un-used, like the alternate Bridge of Tears ending. Somebody actually does own the Albedo #2 cover, along with a wide variety of other Usagi art if I remember correctly. His collection was featured on the Dojo Facebook page once.

I'm not sure why, but it's reassuring to know all the original pages are secure in one place, still in Stan's possession. Right! I believe usagigoya just showcased that one as being in his collection. What an amazing piece to own! Much as that's impressive, I meant more the first page: the true beginning of this crazy ride that's been going for 30+ years.

One of the auctions for the CAPS benefit Auction which I really wish I had won was two pages of original art from the "Usagi's Ark" back-up story by Stan Sakai and Ken Mitchroney, one page offered was by Ken and the other page was by Stan. Obviously, that is one of the only Usagi stories which Stan does not still have the original art for.
IIRC, The only two pages of Usagi Yojimbo story art which are in the regular continuity of the series that Stan does not still retain possession of are a single page from the Chanoyu which was sold, and a page that was given away as a wedding present.

I have actually been thinking about selling some of my original pages, maybe starting with Senso. I have done more than 5,000 Usagi pages and it's taking up a lot of real estate in my closet.
As I said, I'm just thinking about it.

And I really do think it's impressive you've kept it all over the years!
