I just finished the 1975 Joker series. It was good. The first issue was great, then the next few issues very good, then the last few issues so-so. The art very very good throughout, though, with pencils mostly by Irv Norvick. I love the Joker series from start to finish. I got #7, #8 and #9 brand new off a spinner rack! And I got most of the others at used-book stores. Joker #7 has always been my favorite issue. ![joker7](http://comicbookdb.com/graphics/comic_graphics/1/110/58798_20060821181947_large.jpg) When the Joker interferes with Lex's latest overly complicated plan, their personalities are switched! Lex is perfectly happy being devil-may-care and reckless and totes insane. But the Joker doesn't like being rational and sober, not one little bit! #7 is my favorite issue as well. Any time my two favorite comic book villains get together is usually a good one.

That cover is amazing. I'm going to get it in collection, though. The individual issues cost too much.

Actually, it seemed like both Lex and the Joker were happier being insane! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

![](http://i.imgur.com/v4gGH64.jpg) Spidey back in action. J. Jonah Jameson pounding on walls in frustration. Seven pages of Ditko-drawn action featuring Spidey fighting the Enforcers, the Sandman and various henchmen. Great issue all around. 'Nuff said! I especially love the Ditko drawn facial expressions of J.J.J as he learns Spidey is back in action. Just superb! ![](http://i.imgur.com/ahyCHr1.jpg)

They really should make a current Spider-Man tv show. I watched reruns, I believe, of this show when I was really little:

Silver Age comics simply don't come any better than early Amazing Spider-Man, in my opinion. The Lee/Romita period that followed Ditko's tenure on the book is every bit as good as those earlier issues and, in some ways, is probably superior. They really should make a current Spider-Man tv show. I watched reruns, I believe, of this show when I was really little: Conversely, the Spider-Man TV show, which I ate up with a spoon as a kid in the late '70s, is actually dire.

I concur...I think the Lee/Romita run is even better than the Lee/Kirby run. Up until the early #80's at least. Kirby paved the way for Romita and Romita improved on it. It just felt more mature and fresh. Kirby and Lee were kind of just phoning it in the last 5 issues of their run too.

The police captain is J. Jonah Jameson (which is different...), perfectly, but I recall as a child, his voice made me so nervous. I wasn't used to men who got so easily angered. hahahaha! I do, to this day, though, love Judy Tyler's dress in that pilot, and would totally wear it today. They kind of did cast Peter Parker too old, though.

They still hold up pretty well IMO. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) The 3 movies that came afterwards...except for Bill Bixby...they aren't that great.

I freakin' love the Lee/Romita stuff, and Romita has this advertising slickness (and pretty girls!) but Ditko is just at an entirely different level as an artist in terms of storytelling, mood, use of symbolism, comedy, and grounding his work in tangible reality. And spotting blacks. NOBODY EVER is better at spotting blacks. (To paraphrase Jim Shooter "I never could tell what Romita's web lines were attached to!") The Romita stuff is very well done and it's a "popier" more easily digestible product, and the Romita run became the model that everyone else followed. But Ditko's almost unanimously considered one of the top twenty mainstream American comics artists and there's a reason for that!
