It is rare that my favorite take on a property is of a more modern (relatively speaking) nature, but I still find the Kurt Busiek and Cary Nord team on Dark Horse's mid-2000's Conan my favorite. I was revisiting the first trade per below, and the visual style (and the coloring is very important to this as well of course) just sweeps me into that world like no other. A very capable adaptation of the Frost-Giant's Daughter (an old favorite) and then exploring Conan in Hyperborea. I have several collected editions to continue to make my way through, and while my recollection is the earlier material I liked best, looking forward to going back on the journey again, it's been some years since I've read these. Some more examples of the beautiful art:

Thor 337-341
Started a re-read of Simonson's Thor after Moench's tenure kind of left wanting more. I think this is my third time reading it or rather attempting to read it (I get sidetracked easy)
I think what I like about it the most is Simonson's artwork, it feels very European, even Moebius like
Story is, of course, also pretty great

Some more examples of the beautiful art: "The Frost Giant's Daughter" is the one issue I have from that run. I think I bought it for the Linsner cover, and the interior art probably looked good to me as well. I've since gotten much more into Conan so I do want to pick up or at least read the collection(s).

Some more examples of the beautiful art: Busiek-Nord Conan is my favorite comic iteration of Conan as well. I find Nord evokes more of the Frazetta Conan than any of the Marvel artists did, and his Conan is the lean, lithe, powerful panther-like Conan of the Howard prose. -M

Tales Of Suspense 98-99 and Captain America 100-102 Had been doing a re-read of my Captain America Essentials as I hadn't read the stories there in since probably 2014. While I still think Cap peaked with the WWII stories (what can I say, I'm kind of biased since I literally grew up watching them reenacted in animated form on VHS), the later stories are still pretty good. I particularly liked this scene from 101 where Cap flees with Skull, trying desperately to escape the Fourth Sleeper Planning on replacing my Essentials 1 and 2 at some point with the Mighty Marvel Masterworks once they clear TOS

I have many Essential books but they have been made redundant because of Marvel Unlimited digital comics. They are just taking up space.

I kind of prefer physical media tbh, there's just something about holding it in your hands and smelling the paper that appeals to me
But yes, I agree, after a while space is most certainly an issue

I agree, but the Essentials that I have duplicate what I already have. In many cases, I have the actual comics.

And in the case of the Essentials line, they are black and white. Nice in their day - and the black and white certainly suits bleak tales featuring the likes of the Punisher - but Marvel Unlimited is at least giving us the stories in colour.

They served their purpose. I traveled with some of them and didn't care if they were dinged up.

I enjoy both, but I think I tend to retain more from physical media... both comics and prose. I just recently started re-reading Superman Last Son of Krypton, by Elliot S. Magin, and I am shocked how much I remember from reading it 40+ years ago. There are comics and novels I read on my tablet just a year ago that I remember nothing from. I think the tactile sensation of the paper makes more of an impression.

There was some discussion about Essentials/Showcases a while back and I counted mine up... I have over 40 of those things.. yeah, they do tend to take up a LOT of space. But I love them so.

Most of the Essential/Showcase volumes I have I got deeply discounted from various Newbury comics when they stopped selling them... I'm glad I have them, because I don't need ot pay another subscription and alot of that stuff isn't popular enough to be online anyway.
