Possibly because of this thread I had the random thought that I haven't seen The Twilight Zone in forever and should rewatch the whole thing. I had this thought on Saturday and have since watched like 10 episodes. I love living in the internet age...

I just watched The Little People. With Claude Akins. (I forgot that he was a repeat offender.) This is the one where they land on the planet to repair the rocket and they discover the teeny tiny people. And the one guy gets drunk with power because he is so powerful next to the teeny tiny people.
A pretty good episode. I laughed when they pulled down the statue they had built of their crazy god.

I'm almost to the end of Season Three, and I've seen quite a few that don't look familiar.
I just started "Cavender is Coming." It's tripping me out.
I had no idea that Carol Burnett ever did an episode of The Twilight Zone.

Oh wow. Carol Burnett AND Jesse White (most famous as the Maytag Repairman but I saw him recently on Seinfeld) AND John Fiedler (most famous as one of the patients (Mr. Peterson, IIRC) on The Bob Newhart Show but I saw him in A Raisin in the Sun not too long ago).
Not too shabby.
OK. Enough comments. Now I'm just going to watch the durn thing.

Decided to finally begin to watch my complete DVD set of The Twilight Zone via the Image company. Watched the first 14 episodes so far. Diggging the 1 minute Rod Serling previews of next week's shows that never get included in the televised repeats. Also there are a few episodes that have an extra Radio version of the show.I'm assuming there was a Twilight Zone radio show for the 1st year only. Othe extras so far include a Burgess Meredith commentary for his Time Enough To Read episode, a couple of Serling college lectures and some isolated score tracks. Great stuff. Also fun to see what was part of the few minutes that was deleted from the repeats too

Finished Season 1 of the Image DVD. There was an extra disc of extras included. It had the presentation episode that Rod Serling used to entice sponsors for the show. It started off with a completely different visual opening of the show and an actors voice instead of Serling speaking the introduction. That was followed by about 5 minutes of Rod talking to the camera about the type of show The Twilight Zone will be and a synopsis of a few of the early episodes. It was completed with the first show of the series. Also included was an episode of the 1970s game show Rod Serling hosted called "The Liars Club". Amongst the celebrity panel was Betty White, Dick Gautier (Hymie the Robot from the Get Smart show) and Pia Lindstrom. A photo gallery which also had color prints was part of the package and commercials from Sanka and Kleenex who were the original sponsors of the show

Finished the DVD collection of the 2nd season of Twilight Zone. Many memorable episodes, possibly the best season, including The Howling Man.Eye of the Beholder,The Obsolete Man, The Invaders, Twenty Two,Long Distance Call, A Hundred Yards Over The Rim and more. The season also experimented with 6 episodes shot live on videotape to save money. However one of the worst episodes of the series can also be found here- "Mr. Dingle,The Strong".A timid vacuum-cleaner salesman (Burgess Meredith) is given the strength of 300 men by some experimenting 2-headed aliens. A bar room bully (Don Rickles) is also taught a lesson. A truly wretched show.
The season set includes a 20 minute Mike Wallace interview of Rod Serling conducted in 1960 and focusing on the frustrations of TV writing. Also an episode of Tell It To Groucho with Rod's talent discovery-an Italian opera-singing waiter. Plus a Jack Benny Show sketch with Rod. Stills from the show, original bumper commercials and a Twilight Zone comic in PDF format. Neaterino.

The first time I saw TZ was when a new UHF station started up in my area in the mid-80s, and one of the first things they aired was a TZ marathon that lasted a couple days or so. I loaded up a bunch of VHS tapes with that.
My favorite episode is "Shadow Play," which was about a man on death row who tries to convince everyone around him that they are part of his dream, and that if he is executed they will all cease to exist. The subject of dreams fascinates me, and the idea that if you think it's real then it might as well be.
I also like the 80s series, which I suppose is "my Zone." Though the comic segments are kind of excruciating now.

Just got through watching The Definitive Twilight Zone DVD set for Season 3. Besides the episodes, they also included a 10 minute promo spot Serling did for the Famous Authors of America School and a Twilight Zone spoof done for the Garry Moore Show in 1961 with Carol Burnett and Durwood Kirby
Best episodes include Its A Good Life (send you to the cornfield), The Midnight Sun, 5 Characters In Search Of An Exit, To Serve Man and Little Girl Lost
The worst include Once Upon A Time ( a janitor,Buster Keaton, from 1890 arrives in 1961 via time machine) Hocus Pocus and Frisby (a small town shopkeeper tells such tall tales that he attracts the attention of visiting aliens)
And I completely forgot that Lee Marvin and Carol Burnett did TZ episodes. This is the season that has Robert Redford

My Favorite Episode
"The Eye of the Beholder"
Odds are, if you saw 1962’s “Eye of the Beholder” as a child (originally titled “The Private World of Darkness”), it terrified you for weeks. A young woman undergoes surgery to improve her appearance and look like everyone else. She spends most of the episode swathed in head bandages as shadowy doctors and nurses talk around her. When the wraps are removed, the doctors proclaim the procedure a complete failure — but the audience sees the lovely Donna Douglas and wonders how this can be. It all becomes clear when the doctors and nurses are revealed (one of the most memorable Twilight Zone reveals of all time).
My Least Favorite Espisode
"The Whole Truth"
Harvey Hunnicutt is the stereotypical used car salesman: a fast talker who, to put it politely, is prone to stretching the truth about the cars he sells. He buys a used car from an old gentleman paying him far less that it's worth. After the deal, the old man tells him the car is haunted. Soon, Harvey finds that he can only tell the truth. Not only to customers but even to his wife as well. When he tries to sell the man's car he finds the perfect customer.

I'm hoping to find these for Christmas: It's about time Burgess Meredith had an action figure! (Can you dress him up like George from "Of Mice and Men"?)
