www.harpercomics.com/conventions.php?show=3&date=84It's been a long time since I've attended a Jeff Harper show, and I've never done this one -- the biggest one they do each year. It's a long trek from the Cleveland area, but I have a long history with a lot of those dealers, and I enjoy the more intimate size of those shows. I just might end up attending. Anyone else in/near Ohio ever attend any Harper shows?

Let me know if you go, I can try to make it up (it's 45 minutes from here), and we can meet up or do lunch or something. I've not been to a Harper show before and I've hear a few mixed things about them overall. -M That definitely makes going sound more tempting. I'll let you know. Just curious -- what are the mixed things you've heard? |

Mostly local dealers or artists who have had tables grumbling about show turnouts, That's accurate. It's a circuit of small shows largely put on in hotel convention rooms and Knights of Columbus halls. The attendance has been down for a while now, and the dealers do grumble, but they keep coming back to set up their tables. Haven't heard anything to this effect. Probably. He's not the most likable guy on the planet, but when the old promoter dropped out, someone needed to step in, and he did. I've never known him to be particularly disagreeable, but he comes off as just being in it for the money with a real spartan approach to everything he does. It's definitely not the kind of show for promoting work. It's a comic convention in its simplest form: dealers selling comics and people buying them. |

Looks like I will not be able to attend. There's a horse show my six year old is begging for me to take her to that day. As much as I love comics, I love making her smile even more  |

Yeah, I am not going to make it either, but sometime we need to find an Ohio show we can both make, so we can hang for a bit and break bread together, man. -M Sounds like a plan. Maybe when the Harper shows resume in the Fall. |
