I bought some new comics today with variant Neal Adams covers.
A couple of them had this on the title page: Superman Created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, By Special Arrangement With the Jerry Siegel Family.
I've been away from comics for awhile. What kind of deal has DC made with the Siegel family?

Thank you.
This article seems to say that, with the exception of giving credit to the Siegel Family, Warners has not made any payments to them.

To try & summarize the back & forth legal proceedings that went on for years is beyond me. All I can say is that DC stopped using the name Superboy for awhile because of the legal issues. I still don't know what the final outcome/deal was between DC & Superman's creators heirs. I would assume that some form of payment occurred in addition the credit byline but I don't know how the credit byline works.
Hopefully someone with a legal background could summarize it & explain it to the rest of us...

I am curious if creators credited in comics means royalties are paid. It all depends on the individual contracts that were signed. Contracts are different from company to company and from year to year. Credits could last forever but royalties might expire or only paid if sales reach a certain level. No assumptions could be made in these regards
