This is how I order my favorite beer most Saturday nights. Waitresses HATE me for it, but I tip really well. And yes, I sprung for the ludicrously overpriced chalice.

I stay away from beers, and tho I do enjoy a good Vodka martini (dirty -- ie: lots of olive juice), my go to cocktail when partaking is: Midori Sour. yummy:

I had a close friend back in New England whose favorite drink was Midori Sours. My wife likes them quite a bit too, though she rarely drinks. -M

I sprang for one of these a couple of years back Really don't know if it makes much difference, but it makes it look like I know something about beer, eh?

I've been sober for more than 20 years and when I was around 27 to 37 - I used to go to my favorite bar and get 2 vodka screwdrivers and that's my limit and come home from work. Occasionally in the summer - I used to drown four bottles of beer of this variety and it's has a taste of my liking. The reason that I don't drink anymore it's gives me a headache that lasted for nearly 2 days and that's why I had a hard time taking in any spirits and that's the bottom line. That's why I always the designated driver because when I go to bars - I get a lemonade, ice tea, soft drinks, and my popular drink at any bar is ginger ale.

Single malt scotch is one of my great loves in life, after comics, Coca-Cola and science fiction.
I also enjoy beer and wine, though I've never grown very knowledgable about wine.
I have some interest in trying high quality liquor of various forms. I've given good tequila a go a couple times, and had some good Sake-tasting experiences recently in Japan, but have not gotten far with these.
I tend not to enjoy cocktails. Or shots. Or cheap liquor of any sort.

I like hard ciders. My original "go to" was Woodchuck Cider, which my friends and I had to drive to Ohio to get (Pennsylvania used to have some weird rules about selling hard cider, so we road-tripped to pick up cases of it at a time). There are so many of them on the market now, and I can enjoy pretty much any of them without too much trouble. Crohn's prevents me from drinking anymore, of course, but hard cider was definitely my preferred adult beverage back in the day. I preferred pear to apple, though it was harder to find. Just for the hell of it I was looking over the selection at Fresh Market just Saturday & was intrigued to see what memory tells me was an apple-orange blend. (No pears were evident.) Never did develop any sort of taste for beer. I guess I was an alcohol-for-value guy, &/or maybe it was the lumpenprole in me, but if I had to consume anything in that general realm, I preferred malt liquor. Otherwise, my sweet tooth took control when it came to drinking -- margaritas, daiquiris, mudslides, etc.

I would have loved to become a Scotch connoisseur, and still remember how much I once enjoyed a glass of 16 year old Lagavullin. Alas, a good friend of mine, motivated by Scottish pride, got the two of us into downing the better part of a bottle of Highland Park in something under two hours. The sheer and utter misery I endured for the next two days prompted an oath, "never again!" that holds to this very day. The very smell of whisky makes me ill, twenty years later!

Scotch and tequila are about the only two things I could never stand the taste of when it came to liquors. I could handle any cheap version of something I like over those two.
RR's story sounds like how I got to liking Capt Morgan and Dr Pepper (though I hate the taste of the latter by itself) and a few times drank way more than my body could handle and got to the point that I couldn't stand the taste of that combo or even Capt Morgan again.
Another bad combo is Jagermeister and Red Bull. After one experience with alcohol and energy drinks I will never do it again. Not even one.
There's not much when it comes to beer I won't drink. But I remember one time wanting to try something new and got some Lionshead. Holy cripes that stuff is awefull. Seriously pass me a PBR, Milwaukee's Best or even a Natural Light before that. It's so bad I think it's one of the only times I literally poured out an alcoholic drink because I didn't want it.

Wait...maybe it was.
