Julie Fujii Sakai - February 25 at 1:21pm
Stan Sakai and I are in London and went to a pub for dinner. He had the beef and Gloucester meat pie, and I had the fish and chips. Both were delicious.

Our friend, Mat, took us on a walking tour of London today.
We started the day with a hearty breakfast. Then went over to Big Ben, Parliament and Westminster Abbey.
Strolled over to Buckingham Palace, but didn't have tea with the queen.
Julie at Piccadilly Circus.
Julie wanted to climb up to the lions at Trafalgar Square, but this is as high as she got.
Julie and Mat at the barracks of the Queen's Life Guards.

We came across a neat dragon cannon.
And a few of these red phone boxes, but did not come across the blue one.

Today was the first post con fun day. We metro-ed over to the Tower of London (where we saw the Crown Jewels), St Paul's Cathedral, and the Portobello Road Markets.
Outside the Tower of London.
We took the underground all over.

There was a light rain today, and Julie Fujii Sakai and I went to the British Museum with Doug Wheatley. We had planned to visit other venues as well but spent the entire day there, and we would have stayed a lot longer except they chased us out at closing.
I knew they had mummies, but was surprised at the extent of their collection.
At the Assyrian wing.

Doug and me at the Rosetta Stone!
Stan Sakai - March 2 at 9:23am
While Julie went off on her own, Doug Wheatley and I went to the Natural History Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and the National Gallery.
Outside the Natural History Museum.
Trafalgar Square with the sun finally out. You can see Big Ben in the background.

On Tuesday, I joined Stan Sakai and his wife Julie Fujii Sakai at the British Museum and then Today Stan and I visited the Natural History Museum and then the V&A museum. I had a fantastic time and thank both Stan and Julie for having me along! Here are some of the highlights starting with the British Museum!
Behind the scenes shot smile.
Stan, standing in front of one of Raphael's cartoons, prelim for a tapestry in the Sistine Chapel. These we're done with charcoal pencil, reinforced with black paint, the colours painted with a gouache like mixture.

Julie Fujii Sakai and I went to Stonehenge and Bath today.
Stan Sakai - March 4 at 9:57am
Julie and I took the train from Paddington to Cardiff. We toured through Cardiff Castle. My favorite part was the falconer who had 8 birds.
Still at Paddington Station.
I am on the steps of the keep of Cardiff Castle.
Stan Sakai - March 7 at 1:46pm
Yes, Julie Fujii Sakai and I are in Paris, and I had my favorite French meal.
Later we took a walk along the Seine to Notre Dame.
It was really cold (33F), but beautiful.

What Julie Fujii Sakai and I did today.
Musee d'Orsay is built in an old train station, and it is beautiful with incredible art.
James M Whistler's Arrangement in Grey and Black #1, aka Whistler's Mother. When I first saw it years ago, I was surprised at how big it is.

Thanks my friend for this day smile emoticon
