Coming out of a discussion thwhtguardian and I got into in another section, do you have a specific Usagi storyline or span of stories that you re-read more often than the rest? For me, its Book 11 (Seasons) thru 19 (Fathers and Sons). I probably read that run once per year. I think I'd like to return to Space Usagi, Samurai (Book 1), and the Dragon Bellows Conspiracy (Book 4) more often in the future as well.

As I said there, my favorites tend to be the earlier stories. I just really like the juxtaposition between the simplicity of most of the plots and the rich, complex characters which makes them really stand out in my mind. I think that the stories I re-read the most though range from book three to book five; I really love the range of tones here and the sheer amount of great supporting stories.

I've reread my Fantagraphics issues countless times. I never quite completed the run, but I had the bulk of it. These days I don't retread much since I have the funds to buy a new comic every time I want to read one (or more often than that, as my to-read pile tells it).

I read the stories around volumes 18-20 the most. I'm not sure why; I'm not even sure if that's my favorite era of Usagi. But the stories are a lot of fun and I loved the "Travels with Jotaro" arc.

I haven't re-read that story in a while so I'm excited for when I get there again in my recent readathon.

I've gone back and read it 3 times now, but i can never remember what book its in. Maybe Fathers and Sons. It the one where Gorogoro gets captured and Usagi rescues him. One of my favorite fight scenes in the whole series is where Usagi and the Lone Goat are at opposite ends of a bridge and fighting bandits in the middle. I would frame that scene if i could.

Yes, It's the first story in Fathers and Sons, also entitled "Fathers and Sons". Here's the link: classiccomics.boards.net/thread/3267/usagi-yojimbo-69-fathers-sonsGreat choice!

I would have to say the earlier volumes as well especially Samurai and Dragon's Bellows. I'm not exactly sure why. Usagi's early training and Kunichi are very good. The action in Dragon's Bellow is amazing and the moral questions within the story I find very compelling. Space Usagi is another top choice. It's just EPIC!!
