But still fun. The dizzying affects of just transitioning (you can set it to manual or automatic) from, wall, to floor, to ceiling, and fast pace that the Alien can run can be disorienting. So far you spend your time on all fours, rising to biped for some stealth take downs. It maybe the only campaign I play of the game, but so far it's a lot of fun being an Alien. And a time where I would say in being first person perspective works better than third person. You can even see your tail in front of you when you turn real fast or stop on a dime. I've noticed that most modern first-person stealth games have some kind of ability to move from one place to another quite quickly (Blink in Dishonored, the magnetic hooks in Burial at Sea, etc). I wonder if that's because the player can't survey as much of the environment at once in first-person? That is my in general complaint about FPS. I don't feel like as aware of my surroundings as in third person. I realize that it is more realistic but that's not what I'm after in video games. :-) If I can avoid being bum rushed from behind because I can't see the enemy like I would from a third person perspective than that's what I'd rather play. Blink at least has markers and all you can set to zip to where you want. With the Alien you can be running full speed ahead (and if on auto) you just move the joystick and run along the wall to the ceiling the other wall and back to the floor with no button prompts. So it can be overwhelming depending your surrounding. But the manual is cumbersome and slows me down at least. I like Blink as its almosr like the hook shot in the 3D Zelda games. Find a point, target, shoot and you're there. So Blink feels natural to me.

Just spent about 2 hours just finding and getting all the games/DLC on my user in the queue to download. Still have my sons that has about 10 games on it. I might have everything downloaded on the new 360 HD by Monday lol

Did everything download okay, Adam? No hope of recovering your save files, is there?
I'm kind of between games again where I often seem to find myself. I started replaying Command & Conquer Red Alert 2. My personal favorite RTS and I like to revisit every however many years it is between playthroughs. It's just so much fun and I know it so well it's fun to see how much better I can be, try new strategies, or just enjoy playing it. I am still chipping away at Arkham Knight every now and again between other things, but it just doesn't hold my interest for long. There are tons of side missions and things like you expect in an open-world game, but they're too hard to find for my tastes, and I am just not crazy about the Batmobile segments. The story is good, though.
I am working my way through re-watching the extended Lord of the Rings movies, so when I'm done I may reinstall Shadow of Mordor and play through that again. I get so immersed in that world. What are you guys playing?

impulse Yeah pretty much got it done. Though I had forgotten how much stuff I'd downloaded in the 7 years we had that HD. Just got to get 6-7 games that's associated with my son's user and it'll all be done. So nothing lost other than actual saved game files.

Between that and Doom, it's been an awesome year for single player FPS games. I'm kind of between games as well. There's a bit of DLC for the new Deus Ex game that I want to try, but besides that I don't really have anything lined up. Maybe I'll finally complete try and complete all of the Dishonored DLC achievements. (I'm still missing Enough Coin to Disappear, dang it.)

I finished the Deus Ex: System Rift DLC today. There's a guy mentioned in it named "Dowd". That's gotta be a Dishonored reference, right?
...Er, never mind. The wiki says he was in the original Deus Ex as well. Maybe the Dishonored character's name is a reference to Deus Ex.
Anyway, it was pretty fun. There's one section that introduces a neat new stealth mechanic, which was a nice change of pace.
I really enjoy the teleportation power, Icarus Dash. It's not as good as Blink, but it's still a lot of fun. And you can smash into guards with it.

I have been following all the news regarding the new Nintendo Switch and I must say that so far I am somewhat sceptic towards it. The price so far seems to high for my taste here in Denmark. So far its on most Danish Websites for 2795 Danish Kroner without any games, compared to something like an Xbox One S which is only about 1800 with a game. I am sure the Switch is fun but that much more for then an Xbox one S? I doubt it. On top of that the only game I really wants to play the first few months is Zelda. I am likely going to buy it, but it seems likely so far I wont for quite some time.

See, here is the thing with the Switch and about Nintendo on a larger scale. It is almost a brilliant idea, but they just won't get out of their own way. I mean, maybe they just don't care and want to do their thing their way, but it seems to me they are leaving buckets of money on the table with missed opportunities. Nobody was expecting something to blow the PS4/XBOne out of the water in terms of power, but from what I understand it's not even close, and barely an upgrade over the Wii U at that. I get that they're going for the portable/hybrid thing, but lack of power is one of many contributing factors that makes third-parties unwilling/less willing to put games on Nintendo's platforms. Is anyone going to go to Nintendo as their main choice for Call of Duty? Probably not, but it would be nice to have the option to play it if I already have the system Or dishonored, or Shadow of Mordor, or GTA, whatever. Especially with the portable thing! That is a huge opportunity that that the others can't touch. Switch may not be the prettiest graphics, but if I can play the current top games at 720P on the go, no one can touch that! But alas, that is unlikely. Yes, Nintendo's own games tend to be excellent, but they are also fairly few and far between, and with the only major launch title being Zelda, that continues. Also, while on that note... Zelda is coming out for the Wii U, too, and the Switch is barely more powerful than the Wii U, and there's no major game on the immediate horizon for the Switch, and I have a Wii U already, so....why am I going to buy the Switch? Now, in my opinion, the biggest untapped goldmine Nintendo is sitting on - they have one of, if not the, best catalogues of beloved classic games and intellectual property of anyone! All the kids who grew up playing NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, etc, are now adults who feel nostalgia and have their own jobs. Forget the pittance and meager offerings on their virtual console. They should go all in. Make classic gaming a core feature and promote the hell out of it. Also, suck it up, pay the licensing money, stroke the egos, do what they need to do to the classic Nintendo games made by other companies on that store. TMNT? Contra? Final Fantasies? Castlevanias? All of that - GET IT ON THERE. People will line up to give you money. Shoot, it's 2017. This is the time of Netflix, on-demand, binge-watching, cloud-enabled everything. I bet if they had a Netflix-style monthly fee that late you play anything from a certain console, including offline sync, man. They could print money. As it stands now, I just have zero justification for the Switch. The only game in the near future I would be remotely interested in is coming out for a system I already own and is not likely to be degraded much. I don't commute on a train, so portable doesn't help me. The virtual console/retro catalogue is sparse and expensive, and I've already bought the available ones I really want on a previous system. I already have a gaming PC for my third-party games, so even if Nintendo had them it doesn't really help me. If it was a significant performance bump or had a bunch of can't-miss games or was a retro super machine, I might be agonizing more over the fact I can't afford it right now anyway, ,but as it stands now, the value just isn't there.

Hell I've bought every Nintendo console/handheld except 2DS and Virtual Boy and I'm not sure about the Switch. But I've also not even bought a current generation console yet. So I'm in no rush to get one and have plenty of time to get educated on it. Especially if Breath of the Wild will be on Wii U too.
Wasn't Twilight Princess simultaneously released on GameCube and Wii or am I slipping in my old age?

Most reports suggest the Switch is about 3 times more powerful than the Wii U. A number of the Wii U ports are running at both a higher resolution and a more consistent framerate, it supports Unreal Engine 4 which the Wii U cannot, and Mario Odyssey looks leagues beyond 3D World on a technical level (they added so much detail just to his mustache). It's less powerful when played in portable mode, but a 6.2 inch screen doesn't need to be above 720p.
Will also wait until later in the year because of the lack of launch software and not wanting to be constantly told its not in stock.
HD rumble looks pretty cool, and I'm glad motion controls are back. I was more upset about the pricing at first, but the more I think about it the more even the peripherals make sense. A PS Move still costs a ridiculous amount considering how long ago they came out, and the joy cons and Switch pro controller are the most technologically advanced controllers ever made.

I'm glad to hear that, sunofdarkchild. That's a bit more comforting. I wish it had more power to, if not compete, at least be in the same ballpark as the other consoles. I really want Nintendo to succeed, and I suspect unless they can bring in more of the third-party multi-plat market they will continue to lag behind. I agree at not needing more than 720p in portable mode, and frankly portable major-console games at 720p is I think a HUGE opportunity, especially for people who travel a lot or commute on a train. It's just having access to those games that determine how valuable it is.
Also, something I would like, to expand on my all-in retro strategy. Assume for sake of argument that Nintendo won over all of the Konamis, Capcoms, Rares, whoever so you could play NES TMNT Arcade, or SNES TMNT Turles in Time, Street Figher 2, NES Contra, N64 Goldeneye, whatever, portable, on your console as you go! This is even more dreaming, but imagine they had a superb online multiplayer thing where I could play two player NES Contra online with a friend while we chatted. Mind = blown. Supremely unlikely, but I would be frothing at the mouth for one of these.

The new Resident Evil is out, and I'm hearing good things about it. I've never played an RE game before, but this one looks pretty interesting. It looks pretty creepy, too; might be one to play with the lights on.

It looks pretty creepy, too; might be one to play with the lights on. I haven't checked on RE7 as I don't own a console to play it on, but as RE goes, RE4 still remains the pinnacle of the series for me. The ones before are horribly outdated, and I can't even play them anymore. RE4 set the standard for anything following, and outside of not knowing anything about RE7, remains so. Even as much play as RE5 gets in our household, RE4, would get just as much or more had it a local co-op mode. That's what gets RE5 it's play time. As for me, as you all know I'm starting over on my 360 HD, so I was playing some Dark Sector last night. Man, this is almost so perfect. The gameplay is so engaging and the graphics on this 10 year old game are still nice to look at. Throwing the glaive is so fun. I would have liked a more intricate gun upgrading system, but with the glaive the guns are really a back up weapon as far as power. This and RE4 are like the peak of third person shooters.

RE4 is definitely the RE game I've heard the most praise for. I don't really play a ton of third-person shooter games (not counting stealth games), but I guess my favorite might be The Last of Us. It's not one of my personal all-time greatest games ever, but it is a very good shooter/stealth/melee game, and I think the story is very well-written and emotional, if not particularly original. Strangely, I liked The Last of Us, but I'm not a fan of the Uncharted games. I don't think they're bad or poorly made or anything, but they give such a small amount of freedom to the player that they are not my cup of tea at all. I will admit that Uncharted 4 had amazing graphics from what I've seen of it, though.
