I haven't gone back to Alien Isolation (I am the lowest man on the totem pole when it comes to console use) so I tried some Uncharted 2 last night. I had played a bit of 3 when one of my son's friends let him borrow it, but I didn't get far. (Plus those damn spiders!) But I played a couple hours of 2 and seem to enjoy it a bit more than I did 3. I like the characters (and glad Sully is still in this one) and the game play pretty well. It's nice there is hand to hand combat as an option, and of course I like the third person cover shooter part.
The climbing to find things and where to go seems to be less defined in this one than I remember in 3, or in Tomb Raider. So sometimes I can't always tell where they want me to go. And right off the bat, in the opening scene, climbing the train, there were a lot of times the camera angle was awful in seeing where you needed to go next. Otherwise, really enjoyable game. I may burn through it now, that I am enjoying it, since I stopped last night on chapter 8. It feels like I'm at least half way through.
I noticed I can search for optional treasures, but not sure what to do with them, unless it is just some collectible trophy you get, like dogtags in Gears of War. I'll have to search the menu up and see if there is something there. I really just dived right into the game without doing much of any checking it out, since I had played 3 before.

I'm glad you are enjoying Uncharted 2. I thought you would based on your described preferences, and it is largely considered one of the best games of that type. I think consensus was 2 is the best and 3 was kind of a step down. I've only finished 1, and I started 2 but got sidetracked with I don't even remember what now. I think the treasure lets you unlock bonus items, costumes, etc.

We have the first one now too. So I am sure I will enjoy them both. I started with 2 because as you said, it's the most highly praised one. Then sometime down the road I will get Rise of the Tomb Raider and have third person shooter overload. :-)

I finished Death of the Outsider a couple days ago. I really enjoyed it. The third mission especially is one of the best in the series.
I'm not sure what I'm going to play now. Maybe I'll try the Mirror's Edge sequel.

Is this an all new story? I never played the first game. I'm assuming it's a new story. There's definitely a new protagonist. Though the character Dutch is from the first Red Dead Redemption. Really, I have no clue. Rockstar has been very hush about the whole thing so far.

I've been told it's a prequel focusing on Dutch.
Of course, I haven't played the original, so I don't actually know what that means. But that's what I've heard.

Cuphead just came out today for the XBox One and Windows.
I'll probably check it out. Love the old 30's/40's animated style.

Really, I have no clue. Rockstar has been very hush about the whole thing so far. Given that Red Dead Redemption was set in 1911, from this point on ALL sequels will have to be prequels given that time-frame: that's the absolute limit of anything that could pass for "The Old West." I'm also surprised about Dutch being in this, given the originals story.

Oh it's definitely a prequel Given that Dutch is still an integral part it's probably taking place somewhere between the late 1890's and a few years before the first Red Dead. This is the game I've been looking forward to for years. For a long time now I've grown tiresome of the GTA games, but Rockstar hit it out of the park with RDR and I definitely consider it one of the best games of last generation. Doesn't hurt being a massive Eastwood/Leone/Van Cleef fan.

The western genre was always underutilized in video games and when that game came along it was a joy to play. It's going It's easily in my Top 5 favorite games of all-time. John Marston is probably the most realistic and appealing protagonist I've ever played in a video game, so he's going to be a hard act to follow for Rockstar.

Started on the Battle Chasers RPG, it's very much a classic JRPG (of course it has a fishing mini game) and it continues where the comic left off. Pretty early on and so far not brilliant or anything, but entertaining enough.

Bit further into Battle Chasers: weird how Garrison and Gully almost immediately replace their weapons with things they pick up at a blacksmith or so, while they were incredibly powerful artifacts in the comics (I did notice you can't sell their two starter weapons, so there may be more going on and you unlock their true power or so later on). The combat system is really fun though once you unlock a few abilities. Also enemies are starting to become a bit more interesting (I will be really glad once JRPGs decide we no longer need to fight spiders, bats and slimes till lvl 10 or so). The hunts are far more difficult than their levels suggest; the first one had lvl 10, but it was one-hit killing party members with regular attacks at that level.
