truedat, the colorist is a genius and kinda makes it look like some Rick Remender comic! But what amazes me most in those few exemples is... not a single obvious eye-beeding perspective error! Not even in the swords or guns handle, Liefelds traditionnal weakest point, even more so then with feet! Well, the forced perspective on the gun (far right) is a bit off, and it seems to be unpractically tall and narrow... but yeah, this is not bad at all! Liefeld has always been worse with guns than even with feet. It's still improved from some old Cable images

So, I am well versed to the amount of disdain Liefeld's art gets on these boards. I used to be one of them! But as I've since realized, tastes do tend to change over time, as I have since warmed up to Liefeld. It began when I was reading the entire run of New Mutants #1-100. Towards the end of the run it began to get stale. Liefeld took over, and those early issues he drew at the end of the run not only made it a hot comic, but also sparked an entire phenomenon of the kind of style we would see in the 90's. I know what some of you may say, that 90's style sucked. I understand entirely. But there was a period in the early 90's where a lot of readers loved it (the reason these comics sold out right?), and well...I now see nostalgia in the 90's style, inparticularly in Liefeld's style of art. Although not Liefeld, I recently read the entire Age of Apocalypse run for the first time. Amazing story, and the art is fantastic. I had previously avoided reading this arc because I had previously stuck my nose up at 90's comics. I'm so glad I gave them another chance! Sure, Liefeld may be known for his weird (or lack thereof) anatomy choices, etc. I would also say that Jack Kirby was known for some of that too. Not comparing the two, as Kirby's on a whole other level no doubt. Just saying that over time, there is a bit of nostalgia to the first appearance of Deadpool, etc. Also, I like Cable and Deadpool and I like how Liefeld draws these characters. I'll likely pick up this book. I remember that period well. Liefeld took New Mutants to crazy heights of success and I think the hype and expectations surrounding the launch of X-Force was on par with the launch of X-Men #1 by Claremont/Lee. I've never had any problems with Leifeld's art. I view any apparent anatomy flaws as just a distinction of his already unique style. In fact, say what you will about large guns and ammo pouches, but whenever I think of Cable, it's his version that immediately comes to mind. He created an iconic look for a classic character, no mean feat. As for writing, well, I put him in the same category as McFarlane, perhaps not a skill that comes as naturally as drawing but something to work at consistently. As for Deadpool, I could care less. I think the character has become bloated, over-used and over-hyped. NM #98 is the first and last issue that I bought with any care about the character. Liefeld may not be wholly responsible for the current template (and mania) of Deadpool but I would at least credit him for his base creation and look.

Personally, I always disliked MacFarlane more than Liefeld.
I'm having a hard time thinking of anything even remotely groundbreaking that MacFarlane did in the comics industry.
Seems to me like he just created Spawn (a fad character in every sense), added some extra webbing to Spidey's costume, and then went on to have a massively successful toy line.
I'm not a huge fan of Liefeld's artwork, but I don't think it's as god awful as some make it out to be either.
This actually looks pretty solid.
