Published: July, 2004 Synopsis: Ishida and his police force are plagued by Nezumi, a master thief who pillages homes while leaving the occupants unharmed. However, when prominent merchant Hasami is murdered, eyewitnesses accuse the hooded burglar of the crime. Was Hasami killed for catching Nezumi red-handed, or is there more to the story?

I love detective stories, so I always enjoy seeing Ishida do some investigating. I really like the cover to this one.

There's a mystery here, some humor, some character moments (Ishida and Kitsune), and a little bit of justice (Ishida) versus fairness (Netzumi).

This was another fun one and done starring one of my favorite supporting characters; Inpector Ishida. I think what I loved the most was the interaction between Ishida and Kitsune in the street, no accusations were made but the Inspector's message was read loud and clear.
As an aside the ending made me think that Stan could do a pretty fun take on Batman. I know it'll never happen but I bet his take on the early career of Batman would be especially fun to see based on the interactions between the Rat and Ishida here.

I think Ishida works even better alone than with Usagi. The rabbit ronin steals the spotlight a bit too much, and Ishida does not do much detective work without his help when they're together.

Here we get to see Ishida's desire for truth over ride his common sense. Why should it matter to him if the people believe that The Rat is a killer or not , especially when if they do believe he is a killer then they may stop cheering for and protecting him? But Ishida is an honorable Inspector who wants to solve all the mysteries that come his way and catch the bad guys. His honor won't allow the 3 brothers to lay blame on The Rat or to get away with their deceit. And in the end Ishida wins the respect of The Rat and is rewarded with The Rat's acknowledgment and gratitude stating that Ishida is owed a favor one day....can't wait to read of that favor ad when it happens.
