As you may know, I have various crazy fan theories on my web site. But I just stumbled across one that seems to explain the entire Marvel Universe in a single move. So I thought I'd post the idea here for comments. The key is Skrull milk.
In FF annual 17 we learn that Skrull milk is enough to turn somebody into a Skrull. Think what that means: a single Skrull could create a chain reaction that converts an entire world! Giving people molecules that can do almost anything! Such power has immense potential for conflict, and this explains why Skrulls are easy to hypnotise. It's the only way to create any kind of stability. Independent Skrulls would otherwise find ways to destroy each other, and those DNA lines would be wiped out.
In FF 91 we learn that skrulls visited earth in the 1930s. There s evidence to suggest that a lone Skrull could have escaped, a freak peaceful Skrull who hated their warlike nature. Such a Skrull would have access to whatever Skrull technology he could grab before leaving, plus the ability to give others super powers: either by giving them Skrull abilities and then hypnotizing them to only be able to use some of them, or by duplicating Skrull tech.
And what do we see? Superhero powers pretty much all trace to the 1930s. Take the Human Torch for example. Skrull technology includes flaming suits (see FF 2). Horton mysteriously appeared with the tech, then mysteriously disappeared later: was he that Skrull? His daughter Frankie Ray could change her skin, and was hypnotized to restrict her use of flaming abilities. Pretty much all superheroes and their technology can be explained in terms of limited Skrull abilities plus Skrull tech.
What of the more advanced powers, like reality warpers (omega level mutants)? The jewel in the crown of SKrull tech would be the faster than light engine in the saucer. This would have to be a dimensional warping device, and there would have to be a backup system, so our lone Skrull could steal this. Most Skrulls are notoriously stupid, so we cannot assume the other Skrull would notice. Our rogue Skrull would of course need to be smart. The 1930s saw the sudden appearance of such a dimensional warper, the basis for Nathaniel Richards' time machine. On my site I argue that this tech is the basis for all subsequent high tech: the negative zone portal, and any biological power that seems to rely on distorting reality.
Basically, almost every power can be traced to a single Skrull in the 1930s with tech he could steal from the saucer, plus his native milk and hypnotism.
Thoughts?
