Another Spur articleStumbled across this today. Never been to any of these shops, but some of them sure do look sweet! I'd heard of 3 of them before, but as I said never been there. They do look to compare favorably to many of the shops I have frequented over the years (and I have been to quite a few). Though I would pit some of the shops I saw in this documentary... against some of those, but again I have never been to any of these shops either. There are some good shops around here, and I keep finding new ones I have never been too before. One day I may find the mecca of comic shops, but I doubt it. -M

Jim Hanley's Universe in NYC is a great comic shop. Excellent selection of Graphic Novels and Tradebooks, alternate publishers, fanzines and other small print items. Even has older undergrounds. Over the years, their back issues bins has dwindled down to almost nothing. I guess it took up too much space and the internet took most of that business away
The only thing I can quibble is that they don't have a New Release area for that week's titles. Everything in the store is laid out in alphabetical order, so you would have to go up and down many aisles if your only interested with what came out that particular week
