Does anyone else here watch The Americans?
I just started watching a few months ago. I ended up watching the first 3 seasons via DVDs from Netflix to get up-to-date before season 4 premiered in March. I actually bought the first two seasons and borrowed the third from a co-worker to re-watch the whole thing again. I find the relationship between Philip and Elizabeth fascinating. It's complex. I think in some ways they're really suited for each other, but they're both really screwed up.

One of the best shows on TV ever IMHO. It's not always an easy watch as it has zero comic relief, even when it could, but that makes for something quite unique in modern television. The whole cast is unbelievable, and the way the way the plot deals with fairly recent global issues is quite fascinating. The way the main two characters get isolated in every possible way is really disturbing.
I watched the very first episode when it first aired but was not fully sold on it, but after hearing good reviews towards the end of first season, I gave it a second chance and am glad I did. It is up their with those two old Alec Guiness BBC Smiley series.

I really enjoyed the 1st season, but I felt like it got stuck in place and didn't know where to go after that. I've been thinking about giving it another shot, though

I watched the very first episode when it first aired but was not fully sold on it, but after hearing good reviews towards the end of first season, I gave it a second chance and am glad I did. It is up their with those two old Alec Guiness BBC Smiley series. I wasn't sold on the first episode (although the end of the episode was intriguing). But I had already rented the first disc, so I watched the next couple of episodes and realized how good it was. I'd recommend anyone who tries the series from the beginning to give it a few episodes. Like many TV series, the pilot isn't enough to judge. It requires set-up of the premise, so it's atypical. And since the characters are important to The Americans, it gets better as you get a better sense of the personalities.
