They're huge and awesome, but it is kind of a lot of money. It's actually cheaper than I thought they were though, I thought they ran about $200. $125 is more than I like to spend, but they are very awesome books.

I will be all over the Marvel Star Wars: Artists Edition when it comes out in the autumn. It seems that these books retail for around £100 over here in the UK.

I want this sooo bad, it's amazingly beautiful but I just can't justify the price. I might as well have this tatoo'd on my forehead.

I've tried a few of those submit crime books and enjoyed several. M3 and Propeller for sure iirc.
And Revenger is getting good buzz.

Yeah, it looks kind of like fanzine stuff at first, but some of it is raw but good.
I've purchased M3, Keeper, The Package, The Brothers James, ReincarNATE, Rum Row, Deluge, Watson and Holmes, Revenger, Bastard, and Nathan Sorry, but haven't read them yet.

I've purchased <snip>, but haven't read them yet. I think if I filled in that blank of things I've bought but haven't read yet I'd break the Internet.

In 1997, as George Lucas worked to complete early drafts for Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, he enlisted the talents of some of the greatest storyboard artists of the modern era to illustrate conceptual storyboards that would inform the development of the final shooting script, as well as the finished film. Working from Lucas’s ideas for scenes and sequences, these artists produced beautiful drawings that helped lay the foundations for the worlds, characters, and shots of the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy. Together, these conceptual storyboards show early takes on favorite scenes; alternate, unused approaches to character designs and environments; and entirely different approaches to key moments. Like wordless comic books, they have an energy and rhythm all their own that is fascinating to explore. Now, for the first time, Lucasfilm has opened its archives to present the best of the conceptual storyboards for Episodes I, II, and III. Star Wars Storyboards: The Prequel Trilogy collects the best storyboards from all three films together in one striking volume, along with relevant excerpts from the shooting scripts. Throughout this book, readers will find insight into how these conceptual storyboards helped to contribute both to the creation of the Prequel Trilogy and the expansion of the Star Wars universe. J. W. Rinzler is an executive editor at Lucasfilm Ltd., and the author of the New York Times bestsellers The Making of Star Wars and The Making of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, as well as the London Times bestseller The Complete Making of Indiana Jones. Iain McCaig is a Chesley nominated illustrator and conceptual designer whose film credits include Terminator 2, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, John Carter of Mars, and The Avengers. He is best known for his Star Wars designs for Queen Amidala and Darth Maul. THE LOVE AND ROCKETS COMPANION By Marc Sobel and Kristy Valenti. The Love and Rockets Companion: 30 Years (and Counting) contains three incredibly in-depth and candid interviews with creators Gilbert, Jaime and Mario Hernandez: one conducted by writer Neil Gaiman (Coraline); one conducted some six years into the comic’s run by longtime L&R publisher Gary Groth; and one conducted by the book’s author, spanning Gilbert’s, Jaime’s and Mario’s careers, and looking to the future of the ongoing series, with a follow-up conversation with Groth. This book has foldout family trees for both Gilbert’s Palomar and Jaime’s Locas storylines; unpublished art; a character glossary (which is handy, considering that Gilbert alone has created 50+ characters!); highlights from the original series’ anarchic letters columns; timelines; and the most wide-ranging Hernandez Brothers bibliography ever compiled, including album and DVD covers, posters and more. The obsessive-yet-accessible detail and high production values make it a must-have for comics collectors, libraries and old and new fans alike: for those new to the series, it will make jumping in seem less daunting. For longtime fans, it clears up confusion that even those devoted to the groundbreaking alternative comic over its 30-year run can experience, given the sheer amount of material and sophisticated storytelling techniques (such as flashbacks, flash forwards, elliptical narrative and magical realism). Handsome quality softcover with a cover from the original b&w art, then a jacket with a color version of the same piece (the L&R stars), which is actually folded twice so that it unwraps into a full-blown family tree on the back of the dust jacket. Innovative and fun. "Congrats/thanks to Fantagraphics (and Kristy + Marc) for producing such an excellent and worthy book. I love it." – Matt Fraction Publisher: Fantagraphics, 2013 Binding: Softcover Dimensions: 8x9 Pages: 368pg Color: text/b&w ISBN: #9781606995792 Published at $29.99 On Sale! Save $12! The Creativity of Steve Ditko By Craig Yoe. Introduction by Paul Levitz. Highly Recommended Craig Yoe is one of the few creators today who has actually interviewed Steve Ditko. Here Craig offers you dozens of complete stories that illustrate Ditko's most imaginative side, primarily from the 1950s to the 1970s and mostly from great old Charlton titles like Space Adventures, Strange Suspense, etc. There's also a selection of rare original art reproduced, original comic book pages, plus pencils before they were inked. And there are several riveting essays. And here are more photos of the elusive artist than ever seen before: from High School and rare studio shots with Eric Stanton. Here are allegedly drawn by Stanton (Sweeter Gwendoline) and Ditko, collaborations on bondage/fetish strips that Ditko has always sought to distance himself from. Eric's daughter Amber Stanton recollects, in a fascinating essay, her father's collaboration with Ditko (they were studio-mates for several years). And how Stanton actually suggested Spider-Man's web-design costume, his web-shooters and the associated unique hand-movements. But he always refused to take any public credit for his Spider-Man work in order not to draw attention to his bondage work and perhaps embarrass his family. Other contributors include Mike Gold and Jack C. Harris. Satisfying oversized format, great full color fantasy & sci-fi stories. Publisher: IDW, 2012 Binding: Hardcover without dustjacket Dimensions: 10x13 Pages: 208pg Color: Full Color throughout ISBN: #978161377276 Published at $39.95 On Sale! Save $15! Your price: $24.95
