We have 2 Wal Marts in town. On Saturday the closer one didn't have these at all. I went to the one on the other side of town today and it had the looks of them having just set up the display, and there were maybe 10 copies of each trade on it. So I am not sure of the quantities that came in or whether all the stores have got them in. I saw the article on Bleeding Cool about them on Friday of last week so it is a relatively new arrival.

I didn't realize there was that much free content on the site, but I wasn't complaining to begin with.

I've got no real need for any of these, as I'm pretty sure they're all on Unlimited, but it's a move in the right direction and I want to support it. I wonder if Target will try to get in on this? Maybe try to strike a deal with DC.

I checked out my local Wal-Mart tonight on the way home from the gym, and found the trades in the book section, which looked like a war zone. No copies of the Avengers, 1 copy of Captain America, and a handful each of GotG and Spidey. I'd say about half the of remaining copies had visible creases in the covers, wear marks, or tiny rips in the edges. I managed to find relatively clean copies of Cap and Spidey. Still, not bad picking up two pretty good trades for only $10.

At that price I may be interested in the Guardians one, but I wish they had reprinted the old Starlord mags instead.

Humble Bundle is a great idea, and I think they've been pretty successful with the packages they put together. Quit a bargain, and going for a good cause too.

The BOOM bundle is over. The new books bundle is a prose bundle, but includes Gaiman's AMERICAN GODS. Looks like this one isn't DRM-free.

Anyone that likes to buy collected editions and doesn't already know about the site should check out In-Stock Trades. Usual price on a TPB with a retail price of $16.99 sells for less than ten bucks, and you get free shipping if your order exceeds $50. They also have a gimmick where once you make a purchase, you get an additional 2% off for any purchases over the next 8 days; I've been riding that particular discount since April.
They also have even deeper sales every week. For instance, this week I bought the new Flash Omnibus -- retailing at $100 -- for $48 (50% sale discount, plus my 2% return buyer discount). (BTW, anyone interested in buying the first 4 Flash Archive volumes now???)

Another recommendation relies on something that might be called a trick.
It's at Books-A-Million, whose online prices are about the same as at Barnes & Noble (eg., $11 for a $16 retail book). But they have regular coupons mailed out -- $10 off if you buy $50 or more, $20 off if you buy $100 or more.
The thing is that they take the discount off of each individual shipment, and they ship books separately. (You get free shipping by paying $20 a year for a membership.) So let's say you order three books, one priced at $50, one at $30, one at $20 -- if they ship the $20 one first, then that particular invoice comes out to $0 since it was a $100 order and you used a $20 off $100 coupon. And if they cannot find copies of the $50 and $30 books, then you basically have just gotten the $20 book free.
I learned this by accident when I found that there were some books that were out-of-print but were listed at BAMM with a 2-4 week wait time.
Now what I do is LOOK for books on their site with that 2-4 week wait time that I'd like to buy, in order to get up to the $50 or $100 threshold. If they DO manage to find the books, then I get books I'm looking for anyway at a fairly good price. But if they CAN'T find the books (and they usually can't), then I get one book for free, or two books for $6 or so each.
For instance, this morning I used a $10 off $50 coupon to place an order for three books -- New Avengers OHC V4, Superman/Batman: The Greatest Stories Ever Told TPB, and Suicide Squad: Kicked In the Teeth. All three books are on my want list, but the first two are listed on BAMM as "usually ships in 2-4 weeks". If I get all three, great. But I expect to get only the Suicide Squad book, and my final credit card charge will only be about $3 for tax.
Be warned that they will initially put a hold on your card for the full value of the order, but they release that within 2 to 3 days and charge individually per shipment.
