The Fix #3 Injection #10
Probably Civil War: War of the Gods, because I had Hercules on my pull-list and this one will probably be seen as part of that series.

Injection #10 Probably Civil War: War of the Gods, because I had Hercules on my pull-list and this one will probably be seen as part of that series. I'm still feeling ambivalent about Marvel's latest take on Hercules - not sure the alcoholism angle is all that interesting or appropriate for the character, just to take one example - but I'll probably give War of the Gods a chance for a few issues, or perhaps the first collection. How good is Injection? I like Ellis's independent work, for the most part. Even his lesser efforts often have something to offer.

ListingInjection #10 Cover A Regular Declan Shalvey & Jordie Bellaire Cover Island #8 The multi-quote technique continues to elude me so I'll repeat my question to Dizzy D: how do you rate Injection? Good, bad, or indifferent Ellis? The artwork on Islands looks fantastic. If the writing can match it I'll have to give it a look.

I'm not DizzyD, and I've only read the first trade, and I thought Injection was one of Ellis' better works in a while. I haven't disliked anything he's done recently, they've been solid, but I hadn't been wowed by any of them really, this one had a little bit of wow factor for me. -M

I was probably going to try at least the first trade anyway but this gives me a little more encouragement.

How good is Injection? I like Ellis's independent work, for the most part. Even his lesser efforts often have something to offer. I was not a big fan of the latest Hercules either, especially as it was already redoing a lot of things Pak/Van Lente already did (and did better). I kinda like the new gods (can't capitaliza that without getting sued by DC) a la American Gods, but they got to little development so far. Injection: It's kinda floundering on character development right now (not bad), but the main premise is one I really like so far: a think tank has been mandated to map human development in the future and all their projections turn out that we're at the peak of development, all futures will show stagnation or decline, so they combine magic and science to create an AI to jumpstart human development. If that sounds like a terrible idea.... well, yes, it is.
