Favorite Classic Comic (non-review) Thread
"It’s a weekly showcase of comics that you actually own , highlighted by a picture of the actual comic. That’s such a nice touch. It’s a natural extension of the “ what comic did you purchase “ thread but it is a showcase for our members collections. I look forward to it every Friday."
"It was fun reliving those 70's books."
"Such a fun way to relive comic history; it's introduced me to some new titles and issues I wouldn't have known about otherwise, and it's also encouraged me to make more meaningful use of the invaluable resource that is Mike's Amazing World. Thanks so much for the fun, dbutler69!"
"{mrp shines} the spotlight on his specific comic book cover inspired purchasing hunt. It shows that there can be more to the elusive treasure seeking joy we found as a youngster for comic book collecting. If you make a decision uniquely your own, dedicated in keeping the thrill alive, then you never truly lose the fun and excitement. A great way for keeping comic collecting fresh and a personal pleasure for a long term experience.
Makes for wonderful reading as MRP shows us his latest acquisitions and it is great that others have embraced his hunt, offering up suggestions and images for assisting on a fellow treasure hunting safari.."
"The nostalgia was palpable as participants provided photos and/or memories of their cherished classic comic stomping grounds. I hadn't given much thoughts to my own local shops for years, and this discussion had me spending hours on google maps, trying to figure out where they'd been located."
"There were so many bad ideas over the decades. It was neat to discuss them in one place. It made me feel like I was in a LCS discussing stories."
"Truly insightful and interesting to read someone else's thoughts, remembrances and adoration of collecting comic books throughout their life. " -- brutalis
"It's always interesting to see what other people here think about various comic books and comic book characters, and there have been some great discussions in that thread." -- lobsterjohnson
"It's one of my favorite threads-it's always interesting to see what people are buying, to discover new books I didn't know about, the cheer for people as they acquire their holy grails or cheer along as they work towards completing long collected runs, marvel at the deals people get and get to hunt comics vicariously through their acquisitions. It's full of comics joy, which is refreshing when there is so much negativity in this hobby at times (not here so much, but on the interwebs as a whole where comics are concerned). " -- mrp
