Ord. The other important point is that Kitty is very unsettled by her trip phasing through the metal of which Ord's ship is constructed. "It feels wrong," she remarks at one point. This will prove quite significant down the line. Haha that's right... Ord. I thought she thought it was weird because she was phasing through a floor that is 100 feet worth of metal and rubble between floors. As we'll see, he is setting up a major issue that will pay off a year later.

You'll see numerous examples of this as you go along through his AXM run. Come to think of it, it may actually be three years later since this book has big publication gaps.

Good thing I didn't read it issue-to-issue when it originally came out, and instead reading it a decade and a half later after his complete run. I can just imagine a reader left hanging for a long time in between release dates of each issue. I guess in the era of post one issue one and done stories, and in the era of collected TPB storylines of multiple issues, as a reader, it would be better to read a storyarc after it is completed, to not wait long or forbid it, an uncompleted story without an ending from the creative team.

This is one of the reasons that I wait for the trade myself. Also, they are sturdier and stand up on my bookshelf.

If you have a book shelf, and the trades are placed and looks as if they are in a bookstore, they are more appealing to look at than a white comic book box with a cover. It's just good to read a complete storylarc in one sitting, instead of a six month period.

Also, it's far easier to find and open a particular story in book binding rather than in a boxed, boarded, bagged issue. Here's part of my collection:

That is for those who are looking to resell and make money. Unless i buy it board and bagged mine are as they come off the rack. I used to place mine into long boxes but that is so damn heavy and unmanageable. I now use copy paper boxes that i take home from work (for free! best price ever) or use office file boxes which you can buy in bulk at Wal-Mart. Smaller and easier to move around and pull out. These days of limited runs you can actually fit entire series or several series into one file box.

Gah! Those books are leaning! Guilty as charged! There's probably a book missing from the lower shelves, causing the current lean. The topmost shelf is a problem because it has an upper lip, and the books are taller than that lip. Exactly! Also, it's far easier to find and open a particular story in book binding rather than in a boxed, boarded, bagged issue. Here's part of my collection: Bagged and boarded? I'm no expert in comic book preservation (as my leaning books attest), but I would have thought that boards help prevent sagging or bending in the upright books over time, and bags are simply to keep the boards in place, plus prevent them from some external damage. Sabongero, is this shop talk cluttering your review thread too much?

At least fix that X-Men omnibus, it's driving me crazy. And you don't want to end up with a cocked spine! (It's as painful as it sounds.)

It has tons of mails and printed matter and DVD's on top of the graphic novels & trade paperbacks and books. Haha.

Sabongero, is this shop talk cluttering your review thread too much? It's not. Actually, anything that has to do with various comic book opinions is always a pleasure to read. In the first page, I have links of the comic book teams reviewed here in order, so the CCF member or guest can always just click on it, and it will take them to the page and review of that particular comic book team and issue number.

Astonishing X-Men v3 #5"Gifted (part 5)" 2.99 USD/4.25 CAN @ Novembber 2004 Writer: Joss Whedon Artist: John Cassaday Inker: John Cassaday Colorist: Laura Martin Letterer: Chris Eliopolous Editor: Mike Marts Editor-in-Chief: Joe Quesada Synopsis: Scott Summers is having delusions and weird hallucinations. Then Emma is slapping him to have him stay awake. We found out he's bleeding to death and they are surrounded by super armed security guards from BeneTech, who couldn't care less if Scott bled to death. We join the students at X-Men Mansion. Elixir is trying to revive Wing with his mutant powers, with Hisako at his side. The Stepford Cuckoos are telling them, there's problem with the X-Men as they lost psychic contact with her, blaming love and Scott Summers, which they blurted out Emma is so in love with him. Wing finally regained consciousness, but found out he's been cured of his powers. Back in Benetech Laboratories, Kitty Pryde is having a hard time dealing with a Peter Rasputin that is back from the dead. He must be a clone, or robot, or something else, because Peter Rasputin died, and she went to Russia to scatter his ashes. He thanked her. But explained to her that they switched his body with another, and that he is the genuine article, and not a trick. She asked him if he knows any other way out, other than upwards. He said no, and that he only knows the room and they kept him healthy and he pounded on the walls for years, because of tests, and repeated testing on him. They would gas him, and cut him, and test him, and all he remembered were people behind masks, and Ord, who kept saying Colossus's death saved mutantkind from the legacy virus and that he will pay for it with his life. Kitty confirmed he did save them from that virus. In the levels above, Dr. Rao entered the room where the fallen Scott Summers was. She commanded the security me to get their medical team. A scrambler device in her left ear prevented Emma from controlling her mind. She reassured Emma that she wouldn't harm Scott, and to apply more pressure to prevent more blood-loss. She didn't authorize firing shots, but she explained to Emma they need this cure and nothing will change that. Beast suddenly got to his feet, and quick as a cat has his hands around Dr. Rao's neck preparing to break it. The security men ordered Beast to release her and pointed their weapons at him. He put Dr. Rao in front of the gurney with the deceased girl and ask her if the dead girl needed the cure, and Dr. Rao told him, she killed herself, thus Beast released his hold on Dr. Rao's neck. Scott then asked Emma to mentally link him to the rest of the X-Men. Wolverine is healed enough and waiting for on his orders. Beast then told Dr. Rao that he got her real good. Scott ordered them to show the idiot battlebot armed guards who they're dealing with. And with that he let loose a beam of energy from his eyeblaster. Beast knocked down the doctor. Wolverine went after the guard and sliced and diced and went after their left ear, And thus Emma was able to control the minds of the security guards. And she gave them telepathic orders to leave the premises. Logan ordered to have Scott brought back to X-Men Mansion for healing, and that he and Beast look for Kitty Pryde, and then burn down Benetech Laboratories. Emma told Logan, he doesn't give the orders, and agreed his plan was a good plan. Dr. Rao said she has back up information to hundreds of teams around the world. Logan is calling her bluff. And Ord suddenly crashed through a wall and is in their presence with his blade, that he told Emma Frost that it will even cut through her in her diamond state. Cyclops is still down, so the three remaining X-Man prepared to battle Ord, but then were suddenly in shock, and Ord mistook this for fear. He didn't realize they were staring at Kitty Pryde behind him phasing up from he ground, with a very alive Colossus, who they knew has been dead for several years. Ord ordered to finish the battle which a shocked Wolverine agreed to. And Ord thought perhaps because Lokcheed the dragon is behind him. A punch from Colossus from behind. Then the two of them battled. Ord told Colossus he's tough because hes made of steel, and Colossus corrected him that he's made of rage and started to throw Ord all over the place then proceeded to pound on him when Ord was grounded. And continued to pound on Ord until he was unconscious. Wolverine told Colossus to finish it, but then the voice of Nick Fury told them they're not winning that day, and the X-Men is suddenly surrounded by over two dozen S.H.I.E.L.D. agents with their weapons pointed at the X-Men. Comments: "They switched my body with someone else." And with the sentence from Peter Rasputin, Joss Whedon has successfully retconned Colossus to come back from the dead in the world of the Marvel Comics Universe. It is very emotional and endearing with Kitty and Peter's quiet scene. He notice she looked different, and she had trouble believing he's the genuine article. You can really tell these two loved each other. Ord has a genuine beef for Colossus as it appeared in Colossus's flashback that he was tested and experimented on for years, with masked men, but he always recognized Ord who vowed Peter shall pay with his life for saving mutantkind. You have to admire Scott Summers' leadership here even being down and dying. But unfortunately, Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. is at the end about to save Ord and Benetach Laboratories.
