After Brexit, if France decides to go they will have to find their own slogan. HexaGONE? A foolhardy anglophone attempts a French pun: Paris will be "Partis". (Please tell me that almost works.)

If Airstrip One leaves Europe, they can assume their destiny as a little piece of Oceania.

Less than 11% of economists think that it will be anything but a disaster for Britain to leave the E.U. This is the same type of "voting against self interest" that has resulted in the village idiot being the presumptive nominee for one of the major parties nomination for U.S. President. We live in very strange and dangerous times. Guess who's in Scotland today for the "Grand Reopening" of a golf course he owns.

ITV calls it and the BBC is now forecasting that "Exit" wins.

This is shocking to me.
I see both sides, but, my outsider opinion as an American thinks it would've been better to stay.
Apparently immigration, hard financial times, and I can't help but feel that terrorism also helped to pull levers with fear and isolationism.
This will be very, very complex as it unfolds over the years.
Typical of divorce, both sides lose IMO.
Who next will leave ?

That was an awfully close final vote. Do they need a certain percentage to leave, or is it a simple majority rules situation?

That was an awfully close final vote. Do they need a certain percentage to leave, or is it a simple majority rules situation? It's not a binding vote in any way. The government is under no obligation to exit the EU. Politically they probably have too. But they have a very slim five seat majority. They could call an election and see what the outcome is. I hope they choose that option as opposed to completely tanking the British economy.

What about the other countries in the UK ? Scotland very much wanted to stay in the EU. The vote was not divided up between the member countries, this was about the UK as a whole, and the UK taken as a whole voted to leave. I have no idea what will happen next, but it'll be the result of a decision taken by the majority-which was certainly not the case when we were inducted into the EU in tbe first place without any kind of public consultation.
