I think all Marvel writers were given a copy of The Medieval Bestiary as soon as they were hired. Is there an animal that was not used as the inspiration for a lame super-villain? I'm still waiting for a platypus inspired Marvel villain-I would collect every appearance if there were one! -M No images, but I know the titles of the first few stories: Lo, There Shall Come a Platypus..." "When Quacks the Platypus" "Behold the Hidden Platypus" "When Platypi Clash" "The Duck or the Beaver?" (in which the Platypus grows six bills and six flat tails)

I think all Marvel writers were given a copy of The Medieval Bestiary as soon as they were hired. Is there an animal that was not used as the inspiration for a lame super-villain? I've thought the same thing. How many lame animal villains does Spidey alone have ? Hmmm... If we consider Vulture, Scorpion, Doc Ock, Rhino, Jackal, Chameleon, and Lizard as legit members of Spider-Man's Rogues Gallery (and I'm not even close to current on where these oldies but goodies stand now, so feel free to correct me)... Cue Rex Harrison "singing" "If I Could Talk to the Animals." Mammals: Ox, Kangaroo, Black Fox, Puma, Walrus, White Rabbit/ Rabbit Fire, Gibbon, Grizzly, Hipppo, Panda-Mania, Gorilla-Man Reptiles: Iguana, Stegron Rodents: Dormouse, Amphibians: Leap-Frog Cephalopods: Lady Ock, Squid Fish: Tiger Shark Mythical creatures: White Dragon, Basilisk Collective Noun Villains: Vermin, Swarm Insects: Beetle, Fly, Dragonfly Arachnids: Spider Queen, Scorpia Not Really an Insect, but Portrayed as One: Humbug, Mindworm I have reserved comment because, well, life is too short. Please add and subtract as needed.

The only title I remember is "The Devil Wears a Mask" where he faces a colossal racoon.

Don't forget the actual stories "Tower of the Elephant," "The Snout in the Dark," Hawks over Shem," and "Wolves Beyond the Border." All included in the classic Lancer paperback anthology, Conan the Veterinarian.

Heroe for Hire must of had the goofiest villains ever.
Around that time period, you had Stilletto, Discus, The Night Shocker, X, The Cockroach, Pirahna, Mr. Fish, Spear, Chemistro...you mean you don't know these guys!?! They are famous! Ha!
As terribly cheesy as they are, the covers for these issues always grabbed me, from about #13-40 or so. Always a ton of colours, a ton of stuff happening too. Cage exploding through stuff, lots of cover dialogue...don't know if it helped kids back in the day overlook the silliness of a guy like Mr. Fish or not but they look fun

The one thing a superhumanly powerful half Kree is defenceless against: rivets! Is that the same Steeplejack as the Luke Cage issue a page earlier?!

Is that the same Steeplejack as the Luke Cage issue a page earlier?! Nope. The first one was a construction worker going after a crooked contractor who was responsible for the deaths of his brothers. He died fighting Cage, and the contractor then took up the identity for some reason.
