I fully intend to go one day. I'm impressed by its reputation, but it's far and expensive. One day though.

I stopped going to the Phila Con in June because of the high cost & the fact it was too Hollywood for my tastes...although the one year they had a panel where all 5 Star Trek Captains were present. That was cool! I would prefer to go to Philly...I grew up there so I know the area better & it is closer (only 90 min drive). Plus the Reading Terminal is right next to the convention center. It has over 30 different dining places inside!

Show looks killer! Lots of guests already announced that I would love to go and meet. Finances aren't going to allow it this year, but maybe next year!

I've gone the last couple of years, and may go again this year. It's a great convention.

Just got home. Had a great day with my youngest daughter (who went as Black Widow). Didn't get a lot on my list except DC & Marvel Tarzan. I also picked up some IDW Star Trek trades for really cheap price.
My daughter is the one in the upper left. Loved the Blackhawk costume.

I forgot to mention my favorite "find" - a Mighty Mouse comic with cover art by Curt Swan & interior art by Win Mortimer! And my daughter bought a Blackhawk comic because of the guy with the awesome costume to see what Blackhawk is about...

I have a couple Silver Age issues and the Showcase volume, and they have their charm, a handful of Bronze Age issues in the same series, and the Chaykin prestige mini which is a completely different animal. I think my favorite though, is the follow up series to that mini in the late 80s that featured Rich Burchett on art for most of the run. I don't hav ehte whole run (still working onit) but enjoyed what I saw of it. I also adored the Blackhawks appearance on the animated Justice League series by Timm and crew. -M

I went on Friday and part of Saturday. I went to BCC last year for Friday only and liked it better than Saturday, so I did the same this year, but also attended for part of Saturday. I think if you're a comic person, Friday is really the best day to go (unless a creator you're looking to meet is only there on the weekend). The celebs and cosplayers usually don't show up until Saturday, and the vast majority of the comic guests are there all three days, so I feel like Friday is the best day to enjoy the con without a lot of extra people crowding the floor.
This year, I didn't really buy a lot of comics. Instead, most of my convention loot was original art. I got sketches from Yanick Paquette, Barry Kitson, and Jose Luis Garcia Lopez. I also bought a page of original art -- a page from the New 52 Green Arrow penciled by Dan Jurgens and inked by George Perez, which I also got signed by Dan Jurgens since he was at the show. I actually haven't even read that issue, but it caught my eye because it was a beautiful page and a relative steal ($65) considering that it had some big panels with hero action shots.
I have to give a special plug to Barry Kitson. I had a great experience getting a sketch from him, and he's very generous with what he gives you. At BCC, he was doing 5 minute freebie sketches that were more finished than a lot of other artists' paid sketches -- penciled and fully inked (with brushes, not markers), and occasionally a bit of color. His paid sketches were great value. I got a head sketch from him that was penciled, inked (again, brushwork not markers), and painted with watercolors, for $60. The only downside to his sketches is that you have to wait in line and at the table -- no commission lists, no going away and coming back to pick up. However, even though I waited nearly three hours for my sketch, it wasn't bad at all. I had some fun conversation with the other guys in line, and we got to watch Barry work up close.
Speaking of guys in line, the guy in front of me just happened to be Bob Bretall, who holds the Guinness Book world record for largest private comic book collection in the world. It was pretty cool talking to him about his collection and just about comics in general.

We want pics of the sketches man!!!! -M Too lazy to take individuals pictures, so here's a single shot of my haul from BCC this year. On the left is a Wolverine sketch by Barry Kitson. Just below that is a quickie Superman pencil sketch by Jose Luis Garcia Lopez. In the middle is an original art page of New 52 Green Arrow by Dan Jurgens and George Perez. And on the right is a Batman watercolor by Yanick Pacquette.
