Rick Jones. Yeah, he was pretty bad. I found him more annoying, so I can't say I loathe him. Besides, I never read enough comic books with him in it. Franklin Richards? Now that is an annoying little shit. A useless parasite of the FF. Aside from the Skrulls, I have equal disdain for him.

Hal Jordan is a boring dork. At least at the point before Kyle became GL on through the next volume (after Kyle went on to Ion) and Hal came back, I could never find anything but irritation at him. If he's not boring he's a overconfident [expletive deleted] that just makes you not necessarilyrooting for the vilian, but not feel bad if he gets his ass handed to him. Then after that, there was Final Night and Parallax and him being Spectre or something along those lines. Then they started GL over again and I wanted to give it a try for Van Sciver's art but when I got to Star Sapphire, my favorite GL femme fatale, and I was still bored I gave up. Maybe it's an age and generational thing with Hal that I cannot care or be entertained by him. But I like John Stewart and Guy to a certain degree. I actually liked Guy running the bar & grill when Kyle was GL, more than I liked him as a GL. Though I've always been curious about Guy in the Warrior series. That scenario seems to fit his personality.

Percival Popp The Super-Cop. Are we sure Stan Lee or some competitor didn't sneak into DC's offices during the night and slip this character into Spectre tales?
Silver Age Lois Lane. I know people will often defend the sexism of the 50's and 60's by describing it as a reflection of the times, but if you read the letter pages found in the Superman titles during this period, you'll see that a lot of the readers would actually ask how Lois could be so incompetent. In other words, even kids who must have been pretty inured to sexism in the world around them, still read a lot of this crap and thought "Wow, this is horrible". I can't believe that a character who stood up to roomfuls of gangsters in issue after issue of her earliest appearances, despised Clark Kent for all those instances where he hesitated to stand up for the little guy, and who equaled Superman in bravery, conviction, and gumption was reduced to an obnoxious pest who wanted nothing more than to trick Superman into domestication. I honestly believe that a lot of the idiots writing this trash made Lois look as bad as they could to get back at all the girls they were never brave enough to speak to back in high school. It got so bad that even when DC attempted to appease critics of Lois' portrayal they still couldn't help but take a swipe at women. One story during the 60's actually had Lois champion female rights by declaring that women are stronger than men because they can make men do everything women can't.

I just don't understand some members here don't like Hal Jordan at all; to me he is the greatest Green Lantern of all time and when I think of Green Lantern - I think of Hal Jordan 1st. I just can't stand Guy Gardner, I really don't know John Stewart except in the Justice League Animated Cartoon, I'm okay with Kyle Rayner and he's cool but he's no Green Lantern in terms of experience; and all the others including Simon Baz that I have connection to and he's has a gun!

I haven't read much Hal, but as a layman, I get the feeling that he suffers from "generic well-adjusted white guy" syndrome. I think the Flash suffers from this a bit as well. I have nothing against Hal, and from a pure historic perspective prefer him as Green Lantern, but he and the Flash do come off as vanilla as far as their characterizations go.

I have nothing against Hal, and from a pure historic perspective prefer him as Green Lantern, but he and the Flash do come off as vanilla as far as their characterizations go. I mentioned in my critique what little I have read of Hal as GL. I recently, thanks to this forum, found a few collections of Len Wein writing Hal and plan to give it a shot, since I've always been entertained by his writing. But I would still say I am a layman when it comes to Hal. I also agree with Robert and his description of Hal. I would also wager being a teen to twenty something when Kyle was GL, probably weighted heavily in liking him. Maybe giving Hal a chance with Wein's run and being 25 years older, maybe Hal won't be what I thought of him then. Edit: Also another thing that came to mind as far as Rick Jones being more disliked than say Hal Jordan, is if I don't want to read Hal Jordan, then mostly just don't read GL. Maybe JLA if he was ever a member. Don't want to read Rick Jones? But I like Captain America. But I like Hulk. But I like Captain Marvel. (I dunno his involvement in Rom since I've never read it.) It's much more annoying when a character that is consistently written in a way that makes you dislike their presence and they keep title hopping, it's hard to avoid them. Over just not reading GL at least. Which I am sure is why people have disdain for the likes of Harley, Wolverine and Deadpool, who Marvel and DC are doing just that with these characters. I did forget that Rick Jones was himself and A-Bomb in Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. I watched not to long ago on Netflix. It probably helped that he was voiced by Seth Green and they totally played out Rick as annoying to Hulk and being overall a stupid risk taker as A-Bomb. It was entertaining for one run at least. Probably wouldn't watch it again.

I don't find Barry boring because I've read Waids Flash Year 1, JLA Year 1, Brave & Bold and Life Story of Barry Allen, along with a lot of Trial of the Flash and all of Crisis on Infinite Earths.
I don't find Hal boring because I've read Gerard Jones GL books, Waids JLA Year 1 and Brave & Bold Year 1, Hard Travelling Heroes, a little JM Demmatis Spectre and Johns early GL work.
It's all about the writers.

Bizzaro. It’s always been Bizzaro; it's the only one. Yes, with all the inane characters and concepts introduced into Weisinger’s Superman, somehow this bumbling caricature broke through into the popular culture. I see Bizzaro and I know what follows will a pointless, directionless non-story, essentially nothing more than a collection of bits. And a complete waste of time and money.
This is Bizarro speak for you love him, right?

I've always had an irrational dislike of Firestorm. I haven't read many of his solo comics, but I found him super-annoying in the Justice League.

I don't like Suicide Squad in General and Amanda Walker who heads it because I find this team to be too dysfunctional and having said that I had no clue what's going on in any of the teams in the past 20-30 years. BTW, I'm passing up the movie that's coming up shortly ...
