Wow, 3 pages and no one mentioned PAD yet? Peter David's B5 novels are excellent.. they do a great job working within the framework of the show and expanding upon it. He wrote quite a few Trek Novels as well that I remember enjoying. I feel guilty of not having thought of him. Peter David really "got" the voices of the Star Trek characters, as he demonstrated both in his books and in the comics. Ditto for Babylon 5, although the best books set in that universe will always be the Psi-corps trilogy written by J. Gregory Keyes. I loved PAD's Trek novels....

All of PAD's Trek novels that I've read have been great. Like a lot of these topics, this one reminds me that I need to get back to reading more of his New Frontier novels.
And while on the subject of Trek novels, I'll throw John Jackson Miller out there. I've yet to read any of his Trek work, but I love most of what he's done on that other Star franchise (both prose and comics). Someday I hope to be caught up to read his TNG/Titan books and I am looking forward to his upcoming Prey trilogy which spans a couple of Trek eras.

I ordered from the library a copy of Neil Gaiman's American Gods. Saw that it is was on a list of best novels of the 21st Century. Anyone here read it yet. Without revealing it's story, yay or nay?

For some reason, I've never been able to get into his Trek novels with Calhoun. I love that his B5 novels are canon and if I'm remembering right, David was one of the very few writers for the TV show other than JMS. PAD also did a very fun trilogy based on the modern-day return of King Arthur. The set includes Knight Life, One Knight Only and Fall of Knight.

I didn't like it that much... but lots of people do... if you search the book thread over in the community forum, you'll probably find a bit of discussing on it.
