Star Trek comics were never better than when DC held the license. *Sigh...* However Malibu's DS9 series was quite good. I'd recommend picking up more of those if you're able! I already have. I dropped by Saturday to get maybe a cheap trade to read while I waited for the oil change I was going in for, and then saw the cheap boxes were back. I dipped in again when I went in for my regular Wednesday pull before work, so I got more TOS, TNG and DS9 to go with the Star Trek I'd already gotten (plus the Waid Flashes, 90s Flash TV special and Messner-Loebs Wonder Womans). Star Trek: Starfleet Academy 3 was also out that Wednesday, so I'm buried in Star Trek. All excellent choices!

Unfortunately as of last week some one came in and bought the whole box and a half (they must've got an eclectic mix...). Hopefully they'll bring the cheap boxes back again, but - alas - the Star Trek, Flashes and Wonder Womans I hadn't grabbed yet are gone.

Watched the Original series when it aired. Watched the Animated series when it aired (even sent in a script that I wrote for a high school class!). Watched Next Generation when it aired. Started watching DS9 but lost interest. Saw the first & last episodes of Voyager. Watched Enterprise. Seen all the movies even the reboot ones. Read a ton of the novels. Read some comics from all the publishers that created them over the years from Gold Key to IDW.
TOS is still my favorite of all the Star Trek series.
TOS & the Batman TV show shaped a lot of my childhood & what I still like as an adult 50 years later.

Wait a minute, there's a new Star Trek movie coming out this summer. Yes indeed, and there's a new TV series announced for next year. I wonder what continuity that one will be based on. Maybe since it's about a new crew, new worlds and new adventures the PTB will simply not refer to any continuity apart from using general concepts like "Starfleet".

The last rumour I saw seemed to indicate that it will be set post-Undiscovered Country, but before the events of TNG.

They are building a new continuity and want to take us in new directions rather than retread old ones.

They are building a new continuity and want to take us in new directions rather than retread old ones. They went to some pains in the 2009 movie to say the original timeline is still intact. The most consistent rumours I've heard is that it'll be an anthology set in that original timeline focusing on the time between TOS and TNG. I don't think anything has been confirmed yet, though.

And boldly, they will do it boldly!

Very sad news indeed. The man brought to the role the same kind of youthful enthusiasm that his character brought to the Enterprise.

The Abramsverse/Reboot/Alternate timeline has an official name: the Kelvin Timeline. Trek News StoryInteresting that they went with this, as it's J.J.'s personal easter egg in every project he does.

I'm watching The Undiscovered Country tonight. I'm pretty sure that this is the only movie in the franchise that I've never seen.
