That looks like a pretty good format and since the Captain uses a ten point system already that seems to be the way to go.

I had a thought just now as I was contemplating doing my own test review, do we want individual threads for each issue review or do we want to do one thread for each week's issues?

How do people feel about trades? I'm thinking specifically of newer stuff...which might not have already been reviewed.

How do people feel about trades? I'm thinking specifically of newer stuff...which might not have already been reviewed. That would be more in line with what I read. OTOH, for that very reason, I would probably avoid any reviews of things I was already planning to read. But it might be good for things I'm on the fence about.

I had a thought just now as I was contemplating doing my own test review, do we want individual threads for each issue review or do we want to do one thread for each week's issues? I was hoping for a section in Beyond the Back Issues called Reviews. I don't think we need individual threads for each title. I was thinking starting with a thread for titles released each month & if that gets cumbersome then weekly. I'm open to other suggestions on how to do it.

I would love to see reviews on some more modern collections. The question is it listed by the date the trade is released or when the original material first appeared. For example there was a Kubert Tarzan trade released a few weeks ago. It has material from the 70's. Should it be posted in the classic section or the modern section?

I had a thought just now as I was contemplating doing my own test review, do we want individual threads for each issue review or do we want to do one thread for each week's issues? There are challenges with either. Doing a separate thread for each review would focus on just that issue but might wind up being just the OP with no comments, while doing one thread for each week's books means that if I don't buy my books the week they are released, I have to either go back and put my review in a previous week's thread or put it in with the books from the week I bought it, which isn't technically accurate. Personally, I would opt for the latter choice, which would aggregate all of the reviews in one place rather than having them spread out across the place.

My thought would be that it would cover trades of material that is inside the 10 year time period for the Modern books. The Kubert Tarzan trade, while a new release as a trade is classic material. While that particular Tarzan collection is "new" those books have previously been collected in hardcover by DC. Those are my thoughts anyway. I'll defer to the will of the collective. The reason I ask is that I know I'll be buying the third Velvet trade here in about three weeks or so and I feel it fits in with this initiative.

Just off the top of my head doing a little brainstorming for how to organize the reviews...
2 concurrent threads
-On the Racks (fill in month) a thread for reviewing new issues released that month
-On the Shelves (fill in the Month) a thread for reviewing new trades, hardcovers and OGNs released that month (if you want to limit it to books released that month that contain modern material that's the group's call).
So On the Racks Oct 2016 would have everyone's reviews for new comics coming out in October 2016 (books that ship 2 x month would have 2 eligible issues but oh well). On the Shelves Oct 2016 would have reviews of all trades released in Oct 2016. Some people get books 1/month via DCBS or some other mailorder service, some go weekly, some buy digital, some make periodic visits to a shop, etc. so a one month window allows everyone to take part no matter how often they get their books. It keeps threads manageable so several months of reviews don't pile up, allows for variety of books to be discussed thus promoting activity and traffic within the thread. If someone wants to avoid spoilers, they can avoid the current month's reviews and partake of previous months when they finally read the books in question.
Another suggestion-if people want to scan through the thread to look for reviews of books they have read, they might accidentally get spoiled for books they haven't, so a solution I would suggest is to use spoiler tags for all plot summary/synopsis text so someone doesn't accidentally get spoiled, but someone who wants spoilers can click and read it.

I think that sounds great. I do DCBS, so I'm not always super current, but I'd definitely contribute some

I read them if it spark an interest in that book; but for me to write a review on New Comics it will be a daunting task for me to do.

I like this format. I am hoping posters will do some trial reviews on Sept books over the next few weeks to fine tune this & see if it generates enough traffic to continue on a permanent basis. Any comments on this post or the format of my Titans review on the first page of this thread?
The more participation we have the more successful it will be.

Loving the brainstorming, and I'm happy to support whatever consensus decides.
