Since we need a place for trades..
Teen Titans: Earth One (v. 2)
Writer: Jeff Lemire Artist: Andy McDonald
Plot: After saving Starfire from Starlabs, but having her disappear, Vic, Tara, Gar and Tempest are hiding out in Seattle, with Vic not doing well as the liquid metal covers more of him. Meanwhile, Jericho (in his dad Slade's body) reports to boss Niles Calder... he followed Starfire to pothe reservation where Raven is. Calder sends him with a bunch of henchmen there, while his 'Titans' (Wally West Impulse, Wondergirl, and Kole) go to re-capture the kids. Both teams of bad guys win, and everyone is brought before Niles Calder.
While the 'good guy' Titans tell the Calder's team what's what, it turns out Slade has control of his body again and Starfire and Raven attack. There's quite a bit of back and forth..eventually we get Blackfire (a bizzaro version of Starfire, which Jericho takes over) against all the good guys, and they drive him off head back to the reservation to look to the future.
Notes: While some of the character versions here are really cool (I like Raven as a indian shaman, works well in a more grounded universe), others are not (Cyborg is basically Big Guy and Rusty the Robot eventually... might as well be someone else, and Tempest is essentially Creature from the Black Lagoon Jr.), the plot was pretty by the number as far as origins go. Fun for what is it, but by no means a classic. I don't know if it was the art, or if Lemire took a turn plot wise from the 1st one, but vol. 2 felt like a 70s title where they change writers after the origin story and tack on a whole new direction. They also have everyone pair up at the end, and I didn't love the forced pc of implying Raven and Starfire a couple.
The art was not bad exactly, but not to my liking at all. The lines were very rough, and all the girls were terrible.. you would swear Tara was Gar's brother by the art, and Starfire looks anorexic in some shots, and 50 years old in others.
Story: 2/5 Art: 2/5 Overall 4/10

DC had a chance to tap into a different market with these.

So they haven't gotten any better?
I got the first Superman one and the Batman one from the library. If it hadn't been a library book I'd have thrown the Superman one against the wall and let the cat piss on it. The Batman one I gave up about 1/3 of the way through. Among the worst comics I've ever attempted to read.

I've picked up a couple of them... to be honest, I don't recall if I got the Batman or the Superman (that's how unremarkable it was). I have the Wonder Woman one too, but I haven't read it yet.
The Titans one had some potential after the first one.. it was not very sustantial from a story standpoint, but I was looking forward to this second one.. it just didn't deliver.

While I felt there was a definite sense of diminishing returns with each Superman book, I really liked Batman and the Teen Titans first volume but I agree that like the Superman books this one while not terrible certainly fell short of the first one and of the potential it had.

Like slam I read the Superman & Batman ones by getting them from the library. I haven't read any others. I really wanted them to be outstanding. Instead they were under whelming.
