It gets even more comical when you look at the last posts before my banning . Go check that CBR Chat thread . Quite a number started blasting the Mods over the decisions made and all. How it was being done. Then my posts actually was sticking up for Cronin basically posting to tell them the Mods were trying to do what they could and not to blame them or anything. I didn't blame him even now. He had to do it . But its pretty funny .

Brian is a great guy and I consider him a close friend.
And he's smart enough to know that he's saying and doing nonsensical things.

Oh yeah I think he's a great Mod. I mean he's gave me a ton of room for crazy shit I'd post. I always joked..."I wonder what that insane guy has posted...oh f**k ...a thread about eating human flesh as his new diet plan ...WTF SUPERECWFAN1 ?"
He gave me a lotta room. So props to him.

Brian is a great guy but he was an inadequate Mod. The general chaos and nasty vibe of the Comm Board was at least partly due to his inability and/or unwillingness to do that job. No props to him, not for that.

I kind of assume Brian would cop to that. I've never understood how that guy finds enough hours in the day. Between all the comics he clearly reads, all the research, all the blogs posts, the books, plus the moderating, and he still seems to find an active social life. Always up for a drink when I'm in Manhattan.
But he, as well as Das, whom I dearly love as a person, only kept half an eye on that forum. And when he did moderate, he paid more attention to letter than spirit, banning people who technically broke the rules, rather than the bigoted or generally unpleasant people that goaded them on.
As a blogger and encyclopedia of comics knowledge and all-around great guy, Brian can't be beat.

To be fair I stayed the f**k away from hot topic threads. Like the Religion , Gun Control etc etc. I'd know it was just those type of threads the trolls would emerge and take over.

A fair warning...
I understand that emotions are still raw about all this, and I have no qualms with our having a thread to discuss this, but I would ask everyone to avoid personal attacks against individuals at CBR. It can be construed as litigious, can give CBR a reason to want to cause us trouble here (and I'd rather part on good terms), can cause problems if those people or their friends come to post here, and is just generally bad karma -- not in keeping with the polite and respectful tradition of the old Classic Comics Forum.
PLEASE don't make me have to go in and edit individual posts. I'd rather just shut down the whole thread if it comes to that, and I fully see the irony in my threatening this.
And please watch the language. This is a family and workplace safe community -- or at least I intend it to be.

But it just says I been disruptive and need to cool down a month. It may change given how it is. I mean I never realized I was banned til yesterday morning lol. |
