Vote Loki #4 Written by Christopher Hastings Art by Langdon Foss Colours: Chris Chuckry
What went before: Loki is running for president of the USA. What do you mean he wasn't born in the US? He has all the documents to prove he was. A combination of charm and outrageous lies brings him to the top of the polls (with a large dose of displeasure with current politicians amongst voters). Meanwhile Daily Bugle reporter Nisa Contreras (what's in a name?) keeps revealing embarressing truths about the Loki campaign, but the people just seem to love him the more every time she does. Summary: Nisa receives a phone call from Angela, Loki's chief of security, and at a secret meeting place she meets both Thor (Jane Foster) and Angela. Both of them don't want Loki to be president, so they give her information on the Hydra Cell Loki was involved with: it turns out that Loki was their leader and he manipulated them to plan an attack that he publicaly stopped. Again this information does not have any noticeable effect on Loki's supporters, they are just more impressed by his competence. The country turns to chaos as emergency rules are quickly brought into place to limit the president's power, Wall street crashes and violence breaks out amongst group of supporters. Loki appears to Nisa and tells her that he didn't want all of this to happen, so he offers her an exclusive live interview: a single question which he will truthfully answer, in the hopes that this will restore order. Plot: The last issue of this mini-series. It has a good premise, but the execution has been lacking. (Partly because real-life politics have gone so much crazier than anyone could have expected). Reveals in the final few pages made me like the series more: why did Loki do this (and can we trust him to tell the truth this time)? Also the actual reasons that end his shot at becoming the president make a lot of sense, because I have seen the same thing happening in real life (yeah, sorry for the spoiler, but you didn't think that Marvel really was going with Loki for president for the next couple of years? Not without making it more of an event instead of a single mini-series). Overall the last issue is better than the earlier issues, but in the end it doesn't really work as a series. It could have, the premise is still solid, but it's too shallow to be biting satire, too tame compared to reality and coming of two excellent series about Loki (Gillen and Ewing's), this story's Loki just doesn't compare. Art: I'm not a fan of the art, I don't know if it can be blamed on Foss, as most of the story is just people talking and it's difficult for any artist to do something interesting with that. Nisa is the best drawn of the characters, but the characters around her have some anatomical problems. Grade: 5/10

INternational Iron Man #7 :
If you care about Tony Stark's new parents (SHIELD agents, of course, one a musican, the other looks just like Tony), this is the issue for you. Sadly, that only includes rabid Bendis fan boys.. at least the series is mercifully over.

Might Thor #11 The conclusion of the big battle royal between Agger, Midas' Daughter, the Silver Samurai, Thor and SHIELD... the thing where Jane and Thor appear at the same time is really obvious right away, which took away the surprise at the end, and is kinda F'ed up.. not sure I Like where Aaron is going with it, bu I'll stick around and see what happens... good ending to this story line, at least.
