The Featured Reviews section of the front page is looking quite cluttered to the point that I think it discourages folks from even looking through it. Originally, the idea was to showcase the sheer range of comics being reviewed here, but I'd like to do a little house-cleaning and would like the community's input on what criteria to use.
WHAT I DON'T WANT TO DO:
- Remove a thread from the Featured Reviews section just because it hasn't been updated in a long time. Some older threads contain TONS of useful/entertaining reviews that are still worth showcasing, regardless of whether they are being updated anymore.
- Delete any threads from the community entirely. I just want to trim down what's included in the Featured Review Threads section.
WHAT I AM CONSIDERING DOING:
- Removing any thread not updated in the past year that contains less than ten reviews.
- Removing any thread not updated in the past year that mostly provides plot synopses and/or general opinions with little to no critical analyses
- Removing any thread not updated in the past year that has no particular focus.
- Removing all of the series overviews and only including the Series Overviews thread itself as a Featured Review Thread. Each series overview would then be indexed in the op of that thread.
Should we accept these criteria, the following threads would be removed from the Featured Review Threads section unless/until their authors chose to update again and/or revise their content to meet the new standards:
The Sort of Complete Life with Archie by Crimebuster
PAD on Incredible Hulk by wildfire2099 (note: this would now be indexed in the op of the Series Overviews Thread)
Kyle Rayner from the Beginning by wildfire2099
Jack Cole's Plastic Man from the Beginning by Jesse
The Complete Six from Sirius by shaxper
Action Ace's Comic Book Shuffle by Action Ace
The Coke & Comics Shuffle by coke & comics
And all 27 Series Overviews, which would now be indexed in the op of the Series Overview Thread (which, itself, would remain as a Featured Review Thread)
I've tagged the authors of these threads specifically so that they would be aware of this and could weigh in, and I'd like the input of anyone reading this. Any removed thread would be reinstated once a new review was made, provided that the reviews provided some level of critical analysis. Please note that one of the review threads and seventeen of the series overviews that would be removed under my proposed conditions would be my own. The Featured Reviews section has just become too crowded (which, at the end of the day, is a good thing).
