Apparently this year's Nova volume is going to co-star Rich.. anyone read how he came back? Or has that not happened yet?

Apparently this year's Nova volume is going to co-star Rich.. anyone read how he came back? Or has that not happened yet? Sam Alexander found Rich in the last issue of the most recent volume...or at least, found his mind, merged with the Xandarian Worldmind in some sort of other dimension, trying to reassert itself. He left Rich there because he had no other option, but in the very last panel, Gloria Rider answered her door in the early hours of the morning to find what seemed to be her son standing there in civilian clothes.

Considering all the "hate" seen via internet and columns about how Marvel has chosen to promote the new Kid Nova over Richard Rider their bringing him back now seems to be a ploy for them to try and ease the anger of having killed Rider off when the latest incarnation of him since Annihilation was just beginning to catch on. Now Marvel can say he is a legacy character and promote both the old and new Nova to placate both older and younger/newer readers. Only time will tell if they let Rich be a "Nova" anymore...

I'm not one of those people who can't stand change or anything, but I think Marvel made a real mistake with Rich. Bringing in a new character for an old one works when you can use the legacy to enhance a new, different character, especially when the original is played out (Wally West becoming Flash and Kyle Rayner becoming Green Lantern are the best examples of this)... With Nova, Rich was just coming into his own as a hero (after being developed in fits and starts for many years).. the Annihilation stuff was really great (though perhaps not great sales wise), and totally set Rich up to be the centerpiece of Marvel's cosmic stuff.
Then, they trashed it all for a generic, Earthbased teenaged character. Worse, Sam isn't even likable, IMO.
Hopefully, they'll be able to make it work in the new book.
