And yep, every cover is gone. No more can be shown without paying extortionate rates to Photobucket. So that's this thread done. Cheers, Photo****it. Oh no, what a shame. Was it just front covers that you uploaded to this thread on each review? Because you could always upload them again somewhere else and edit each post to insert the new url. Time consuming, I know, but I'd be happy to help out with that, rather than have the thread abandoned. It was mostly covers, a couple of other images early on, though.

Both Mile High Comics site and Comic Vine have cover images for the original Captain britain series; so, you can always link the image, like I do on my reviews. Mile High's have their stamp at the bottom; but, it isn't too intrusive. Comic Vine has clean images. Grand Comics Database has all of the original covers scanned, plus the 80s series, Daredevils and other stuff. GCD doesn't allow hotlinking.

I recently discovered that the Jaspers Warp story by Moore and Davis (which I've never read) was reprinted back in the mid 90s as part of an X-Men Archives mini-series. So I'm currently tracking down that run at the moment.
While perusing over other material related to Capt. Britain, I came across mention of the Knights of Pendragon spin-off title. Have you read any of that or what are your general thoughts about it if any?

Have you read any of that or what are your general thoughts about it if any? The original 18 issue Knights of Pendragon series (which wasn't strictly speaking a Captain Britain spin-off, although he appeared semi-regularly throughout the run and one of the other leads was Dai Thomas) was great. It was by Dan Abnett, and was a very atypical superhero story about the inheritors of the mantles of the Knights of Camelot battling an evil corporation out to destroy the ecology of the planet for the benefit of some extradimensional demons. It's well worth a look. Oh, and it also features Union Jack, Black Panther and Iron Man. The second series, Pendragon II, was fairly awful and is best ignored in my opinion. It goes in a completely different directon to the first series and most of the characters (which no longer includes Dai or the Captain) are virtually unrecognizable.

It's October 13th again, which means it's 41 years since the cover date of Captain Britain #1. Just keeping the flame burning...

I've been reading the Modern Masters book on Alan Davis and in discussing his redesign of Cap's costume, he makes an interesting comment on the original costume design.
"The lion rampant (chest emblem) was a real joke in the UK because, although it is a heraldic symbol, it was best known as a sign to denote the quality and freshness of eggs. There were all sorts of jokes about Captain Britain being a 'good egg' [laughter]
"Paul (Neary) wanted a total redesign so that, visually, Captain Britain would still be an American-style super-hero, but with a British sensibility."
I find that highly interesting (and somewhat amusing). Was this perception something you were aware of or had heard about?

Yes, I have heard it mentioned. The lion never made a lot of sense to me, to be honest. The Alan Davis redesign seems to me more evocative of Britain, since it incorporates all the various constituent parts of the Union Jack (predominantly the St. Andrew and St. Patrick saltires on the chest, with the full Union Flag on the mask) while the lower half of the costume is basically part of a 19th century British army uniform.
