Curious as to what's out there.
Also, was it just shock value or was the overall story a good read?

Dang it. I was going to make a Howard the Duck joke, but you took the "fowl" pun off the table.

Dang it. I was going to make a Howard the Duck joke, but you took the "fowl" pun off the table. I even remember the scene...Peter shows up at Aunt May's house with a bucket of chicken & asks her "Will you join me in a bucket of chicken? Although I doubt we will both fit."

Probably everything by Garth Ennis. Fixed that for you . Ennis is MOSTLY good.. but does drift into bad language for shock value at time, IMO.

His Punisher MAX run, which I consider easily one of the greatest runs of the modern era, would've been even greater if it maintained its ultra-nihilistic tone, throughout. The comedy elements just felt out of place as opposed to the Marvel Knights run by Ennis and Dillon which struck a perfect pitch between badass and utterly absurd. Preacher, Hitman and Hellblazer are VERY good. But nothing can touch Ennis' runs on Punisher and his war stories as some of the most realistic, yet depraved, incredible writing in the medium.

The first time I saw the 'c' word in a comic that rhymes with 'hunt' was in an issue of Y-The Last Man.
Naturally I unleashed this comic on some of my friends for the "cor blimey" value. We were on campus at the time, and reminded me of the time we used to pass around naughty literature at school when we were 14.

The most swearing I have come across in any comic was when Negan was introduced in to TWD four years ago. My son used to buy the individual issues - before he got in to Comixology - and I always flicked through it when it was left on the table... boy, Spider-Man and Daredevil was never like that! (Are all moden comics written like that these days I wonder?)

boy, Spider-Man and Daredevil was never like that! (Are all moden comics written like that these days I wonder?) Well Spider-Man and DD are still relatively tame. There was an anomaly with Batman - All Star Batman #10 was recalled because of profanities which weren't properly edited out. I'm all for foul language with mainstream characters once there is a clear indication that the book is meant for adults only.

The worst language I ever heard, while reading a comic, came from me...when Mephisto erased the Spider-Marraige!

What was that Batgirl (??) book that came out, maybe, 6 years ago or something...that had loads of profanity, but each swear word was blocked out with a thick, black line. Trouble was, the black line was "accidentally" not dark enough and the swearing was clearly readable underneath.
