I am actually taking a Monday Federal holiday off for the first time in at least twelve years. My “law and motion” day was recently changed from Tuesday to Monday. When it was on Tuesday there was just no way for me to take off a Monday and still be ready for Court on Tuesday. This was particularly true given I have preliminary hearings on Friday morning.
So no Court today because of the holiday.

I'm having a h*ll of a time getting pages here to load at all quickly. I think there is a flash banner ad at the top that tries to load but then can't each and every time and then I get the simpler PB house ad. I guess if I updated my flash player it might not be a problem but I hate to do that for ads I don't want to see anyway. There was one way back I remember that was like a full motion high-res video of some car that turned firefox peanut-butter slow.
Anyway, I'll try to do what I can, curious if it's hit anyone else? It started sometime yesterday.

Talked to the facilities supervisor at our complex today, who told me my new/old apartment should be ready for me to move in the second week of February. I'm getting pretty much my entire wish list as far as accessibility PLUS new appliances and the entire unit has been rewired. I need to speak to the owner's property manager tomorrow to work out the details and find out the one possible downside: if they'll be raising my rent and, if so, how much. If it goes up too much, I may have to can the entire idea and move in with my sister temporarily (a contingency we discussed at some length last week). For now, though, I'm staying optimistic.

I have uBlock, but turned it off for proboards (when it asked, way back). Whatever the ad or glitch was it seems gone now. It really slowed things up whatever it was, probably my flash is pretty dated. |

Yes!!! Spoke to the owner's rep this afternoon, who told me my rent will not go up when I change apartments. Time to start planning the logistics for the move.

I am definitely gonna delete my Quora account soon.
Quora is supposed to be there to answer questions not readily found online. Particularly when it comes to careers. Subjective questions like "What should I expect in the IT industry?" are fine.
But I get people nominating me for answers. The latest one was someone asking me who played a particular role in Batman Returns.
I "passed" on answering but was tempted to reply, "Dude, in the time it's taken you to ask me that on Quora, you could have opened up IMDb and found the answer to your question."
I remember asking a law enforcement question on Quora once as I couldn't find it via Google (I asked why the counties of New York didn't have sheriffs like counties elsewhere in the US). I had two great answers. Those kinds of questions, with answers not readily available online, are good. And subjective questions are fine.
But tonight's questions bored me. People were asking me when certain shows were gonna be on Netflix. I don't represent Netflix, I'm not employed on them. And when Joker was released, people were asking me what cinema to see it in. Surely no-one is that lazy? (They're actually not lazy, they've taken the time to post a question to me).

We absolutely lost a number of good posters because of it (and a few not-so-good). But DAMN that thread has some of my absolute best stuff in it.
