Do you own your master recordings/stems? Got copies of those? Yes, the multitrack masters are in the bass player's loft. But we're not planning to remix anything for the re-issue. I never like it when bands do that. It's a bit revisionist, IMHO. The album is what the album was, so let it stand like that.

I always found that stuff fascinating. (also as a fan, there are a few bands' whose stems I would LOVE to get my hands on for a number of reasons... playing along to backing track, messing about with mixes for fun, makin my own covers, etc). I also have no problem with bands remastering and rereleasing except when they take away the original recording. You want to have a "corrected" or just updated version for whatever reason? Yeah cool, just don't take away the original we all fell in love with. See also Star Wars, Lucas and Disney. Ahem.

Forgot to mention the other Arizona dunderheads. The I'll prepared hikers in the desert trails and mountains. Every May through September with escalated heat and humidity they go out in herds. Ages 8-100 dressed improperly, not enough water with them, physically incapable without a cell phone or telling anyone what they are doing. Miles of desert and helicopters full of police, firemen, park rangers and volunteers searching for hours, days and sometimes weeks hoping to find lost or injured moron's before they die. Dumb dumb dumb.

The one thing I find I like best about extra bonus tracks and that kind of thing is the demos: I almost always find something to like amongst them, even if they aren't as polished as the actual album version that was originally released. I might not prefer them to the finished version - though that does happen from time to time - but it's always interesting to hear them. The demos and other bonus tracks on the cds of Bowie's classic 70s albums come to mind as a prime example - Sweet Thing, from Diamon Dogs, is almost unrecognisable.

Yep, I agree. That stuff is interesting on its own merit even if nowhere near as good as the final product. The recent super deluxe editions of Metallica's early work are a treasure trove if you're into them. They have 8 CDs worth of material including riff tapes, works in process you couldn't even call demos yet, rough mixes, live tracks, etc. Super cool to see how the songs go from a 3 second clip from a jam session into a final song.

We haven't interacted that often, Cei-U. But I do read your posts and I enjoy your insight. You've lived long; may you continue to prosper.

Happiest of days celebrating your birth Kurt. Can you get the Merlin deal and start aging backwards so that we have your comic book knowledge (and wisdom) for another lifetime? You da Wiz!
