My wife and I forgot about something this morning... Our 33rd anniversary!
Looks like we're both sleeping on the couch tonight. Which is fine, as we'll be together.
Happy Anniversary.

I believe the traditional gift for a couple's 33rd anniversary is this: Pretend you're surprised!

Harh!!! I think buying yet another edition of a Robert Howard book might be a cause for divorce in this house!!! (But darn... That's a great cover, isn't it? Those Gnome Books were the stuff of legend back when Savage Sword of Conan hadn't reached double-digits yet...)

I just checked on Abebooks, and a copy retaining its dust jacket sells for at least several hundred dollars (which in Canadian money translates as a kidney, my entire pension fund and my firstborn). Ah, well... Collectibles only gather dust anyway. The "real" first Conan book to me will in any case always be the French version with a Philippe Druillet cover!

Why does this exchange happen anywhere anytime someone expresses disappointment with some material being left out of a movie adaptation of another work?
Person A: "Man, I really wish this specific scene was included because it's a good character moment/good atmospheric detail/critical to the plot and what were they thinking, etc.
Person B: Hurr durr, film is a different medium so you can't have every scene verbatim
No one asked for every scene verbatim. They wondered why that one specific scene was omitted. Most people would likely agree a word for word recreation wouldn't translate most of the time.
I'm a huge fan of the Lord of the Rings movies. That is probably my favorite film series. They left a ton of material out, and I agree with basically every single decision.
Contrast with the Harry Potter movies where I think they cut out each page and pasted it to the wall, blindfolded a drunk chimpanzee and gave him half as many darts as pages. Whatever he hit made it into the movies.
I digress.

I believe the traditional gift for a couple's 33rd anniversary is this: Pretend you're surprised! I can't help but notice how impractical the sword holster is. There's not even enough to call it a scabbard, so a sword ring? If he trips on a rock while walking he's likely to slice his little barbarian off, maybe a leg or two.

Same here. What's more, a lot of the "extra" dialogue is actually taken from elsewhere in the movie (like Galadriel's opening lines in the first film, which are taken from something Treebeard said later in the books).

Hmmm... for some reason, somebody told me that the appropriate anniversary gift for the 33rd anniversary was 33 1/3 LP records...

There's not even enough to call it a scabbard, so a sword ring? If he trips on a rock while walking he's likely to slice his little barbarian off, maybe a leg or two. That's a "hanger," which would wrap around a scabbard (at least, that's what it looks like). On the wrong side, though, for someone who wields their sword righthanded. Sticking with the Roman look, he would probably have a belt across his chest, with scabbard in a hanger, on his left side. Of course, it might just be a Hyborean cup-holder.
