Paramount+ has launched in the UK. I am tempted. But how many services can one afford? I get Paramount+ free because I already subscribe to Sky Cinema. Is Paramount+ late to the party, given the dominance of Netflix, Prime and Disney+? Now, I am the guy with the lame analogies, so here’s another one: if three well-established greengrocers in an area had customer loyalty, and did a good job, could a new greengrocer attract customers effectively? For me, the selling point of a streaming service has to be a good mix of retro and modern stuff, with a commitment to new programming. Paramount+ ticks those boxes, but if I subscribe, one of the other services is gonna have to go. It's a good question, but personally I had Prime for two months and thought it was kak! I barely watched a thing on it. So, to go back to your analogy, one of those green grocers sells low quality goods and isn't worth visiting. I imagine a fair few British households will be like us and get Paramount+ free via their Sky Cinema package, but the ongoing, long-term success of the channel will probably be determined by its commitment to new exclusive programming and the quality of such.

I was tempted to get either HBO Max or Paramount+ purely for their animated content, but some of the older Hanna-Barbara shows (at least in the US) have been off-loaded onto a Boomerang streaming site. I'm also not interested in paying another $10 for another streaming service when Disney+ and Hulu are decently cheap
Paramount+ is about $4.99 from what I've heard and has a free-trial, so that might be worth looking into

Going to be away for a bit, "guitar hero" life beckons again. Talk to folks down the road! Well, that was rather short-lived, my gig fizzled (on occasion that happens). Back to the funny books (where I'm happiest anyways)

I haven't explored too much of the other content on Paramont+ but I do love Star Trek: Strange New Worlds on there.

Paramount+ is probably right up there with Disney+ as most watched in our household. It has tons of great old Nick cartoons from the 90/2000's era, plus all the old Star Trek stuff. I don't watch any original programming so it's more just a convenient way to watch old classics (though we probably have a fair amount of redundancy with our DVD collection).

Sorry to hear that... it kinda sucks.
I'm certainly no guitar god, but these were taken at a gig from last weekend. Had another gig tonight... it's good to be playing fairly regularly again.

Nice! Love that Bo Diddley, great seeing it out in action. For my stuff, all good, things happen for a reason. It actually encouraged me to take back a nice Gibson I had put for a consignment sale since I felt I had more of a reason to use it. But even though I won't use it for this gig, I think I always had wanted it back and it should be out for delivery today (as my wife put it last night, the one I should never have tried to sell). And then out of the blue yesterday afternoon, my longtime collaborator and former bandmate (and truly brother from another mother) texted me to line something up for Labor Day weekend, which I am definitely more looking forward to.

It's a lap steel, but one that is designed to be played standing up, instead of sitting.

After 23 years of practice it's hard for me to be surprised. But I got a first today. Very first attempted bribery case. I'm actually a little surprised that I've never had one before given that we have a fairly large migrant population and the number of times I've had clients sincerely ask me "how much money to make this go away." I have to think that maybe it just hasn't been charged in the past, but this guy was apparently very persistent in his attempts to buy his way out of a DUI arrest.

Yesterday I got my 2nd Booster Vax. And like all the times before, I'm groggy and just want to sleep. I've slept mostly 19 hours so far. Think I'll go back to sleep again soon
