Heard what may well be the worst bar band in the history of the world last night. They hit every single crappy bar band cliche song...usually in the wrong key. They thought their Johnsons were defined by their Peavey stacks...which were not only too large for the room, but hissed worse than a pit full of cobras. It was a birthday party for a friend of my wife...but we made a quick exit with bleeding ears.

I found out that it's probably going to rain today during my school's prom. Hopefully, this doesn't cause too many problems for picture taking.

I hear a lot of terrible things about Windows 8 but the lap top I just got last fall(and am using right now) has it and I don't notice anything all that different about it than XP or 98. I mean it has this funky start page when you first boot it up every time but I just ignore all that and click desktop and from there it is about the same. Granted, I just use mine for basic document writing, watching movies, gaming, email and web-browsing so it may be worse if you need it for something more technical but how many people actually use their computers for more than what I listed on a regular basis? I started on a Commodore 64, with a tape drive. Good times. I LOVED plain old DOS. I miss the days when you actually new what the files on your computer did, what programs it was running, and could organize it as you wish. I had alot of trouble adjusting to Windows (3.1, that is). I think I had 3.1 longer than most... I when from there to XP. XP was nice, if too Mac-like ,but that was the way of the world. I never thought Vista was so bad, but I didn't use it until it had been out for like 3 years. I never had stability issues (any more than any other version). I missed 7, except for the occassional one-off use... seemed the same as Vista to me. I have 8 now (very current for me) on both my Work and Home laptops.. it's fine. I just completely ignore the app nonsense and use the computer normally. It does make me feel like the computer would run more effeciently if I could shut down that crap, but that might not actually be true. I've yet to figure out why they bothered to have them be the same OS... why not have a regular windows version (call it 8, or 7.2, or whatever) for non-touch screens, and the app overlay for 8 for their tablets. Despite their attempt to market otherwise, there's a BIG difference between a tablet and a computer.. trying to run them with the same software is really, really dumb.
