I have a friend who's a psychiatrist. I can give you his number if you would like. You forget, he's across the pond, Pizza Hut could be something different there, or considering the stereotypes about British cuisine, Pizza Hut could be a step up.... -M Presumably the latter, because if I said something even remotely favorable toward Pizza Hut in the local foodie FB group I'm on, I'd be burned at the stake. And for good reason.

Hmmm. From an email today at at work -- The Boatrockers: Powerful, Prophetic New YA Novel Calls on “Christian Superheroes” to Receive Instructions from Heaven & Help Earth Prosper Crafted from the faith and wisdom of author Amanda Nicole, ‘The Boatrockers: Journey to Boatrocker Mountain’ calls on all young people to embrace their true importance and power. Inspired by a bold prophecy she received, Nicole has molded her vision of what will happen to Earth into a compelling adventure story featuring a tireless new breed of Christian superheroes. For those committed to their faith, this is one story not to be missed…I sometimes feel a perverse inclination to read something like this, just to experience the madness. One of those "Left Behind" books, maybe. See also L. Ron Hubbard's Battlefield Earth and the works of Ayn Rand.

I don't want to jump to conclusions, but if God was giving out prophecies these days and then tells her to sell it as an e-book?

Maybe it means God is a comics fan?
That would be cool.

Actually, this did cross my mind too. I mean, it's a fast food chain over here, yes, but man, it's some good pizza. Not as authentic as proper Italian chains over here like Ask or Prezzo, but it's damn good food...especially for "fast food". It's about a million miles from the rubbish that McDonalds and Burger King serve. Oh, and the unlimited salad bar is to die for. Man, I'm hungry now. I just became very, very depressed. It's okay, he has an excuse. Everyone knows that the tastebuds of the British have experienced sensory deprivation for centuries. Its only natural that they would evolve to accept Pizza Hut as the pinnacle of Italian dining.

Probably true. Here at the AFB we had an Air University/Air War College/Air Command festival Sunday featuring tables with native dishes prepared by international officers & their families; probably at least 3 dozen countries from every continent other than Antarctica were involved. I was able to sample far less than half, of course; with the UK booth, the only thing appetizing-looking was a tea sandwich (cucumber with cheddar).
At least, though, they were playing music I recognized, as I noted on my FB page -- most notably, "Pretty Vacant."

Fish and chips aren't bad either.

Probably so. If they had those, though (as well they should have, come to think of it), they were gone by the time I got there. Which wouldn't be surprising, since everything was arranged alphabetically.

I on the other hand grew up on what is now called New England style Greek pizza Greek Pizzaand still prefer it to traditional Italian style pizza, especially thin crust New York style pizza that I really don't like. I haven't found any place out here that does Greek style pizza though, so I mollify myself with what I can find here. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it. I rarely do fast food type pizza though, and especially avoid a local chain called Cassanos as they put about a pound of salt on the bottom of each pizza crust and I find it absolutely disgusting, but people around here swear by it. There's a couple of really good pizzerias down Dayton way we make a point of going to when we are in the city or its metro area, but more ofen we just get take and bake style pizzas and make them at home. -M

I read Crisis of Conscience by Ramyond Franz a former member of the governing body of Jehovah's Witnesses shortly after I left the religion. My wife actually bought it to read for herself, and eventually I did too. While that's a bit different since I was raised in said religion, I have always found religion as a subject far more entertaining to read than discuss. Being on the inside I found the book fairly objective, but him having been so far up the chain of command I had to take some at his word. What little I have read about Ayn Rand is going to get me to read something of her eventually. It seems like a very interesting read.

I used to like Pizza Hut, but I eventually just couldn't eat that much soaked-up grease with a smattering of flour and cheese. For the major chains I prefer Papa Johns by a mile. Little Caesar's is pretty good with the hot and ready and being so inexpensive, but I don't think it's quite as good as it used to be in the 90s. It might have been the local one at the time, but Dominos was painfully mediocre the last time I ordered delivery. It felt like half-assed thrown together store bought crap. I've been abstinent from CiCi's buffet for I think 12 years now, and I doubt I would willingly go back without a lot of coercion. I'm not a huge fan of any of them. And by that I mean I would never pay to eat any of those pizzas. If I'm at a friend or family members house and that's what they're having I'll eat it. It's been several years since I bought one myself though. I don't think I ever really liked them though, not even as a kid. I used to order mine without cheese to make it somewhat more palatable but it was never ideal. I also haven't eaten at Taco Bell in over ten years I'm sure. Maybe closer to 20 years at this point.

Since I have eaten at Pizza Huts in several different countries, I feel I should comment. Honestly, I didn't notice a whole lot of difference between the Pizza Huts in the U.S. and in Wales. In Mexico, it was a bit weird, there was no option to just get a plain cheese pizza. The default pizza style was ham.
Of course, these experiences were all over a decade ago - I don't eat at Pizza Hut any more. But back in the day, I dunno. It was just whatever regardless of which country I was in. If that's the best pizza available in some countries, I feel pretty bad for those poor souls.

I don't eat any fast food places, I stay away from Taco Bell, Taco Time, KFC, McDonalds, Wendy's, Arby's, and all the others places because of the grease and high fat content. I usually eat at Subways and selected restaurants if I want to go out and enjoy food.
The only two places that I go for Pizza - Is Papa Johns and Papa Murphy's. I hate all the rest. I don't get Pizza that often and I usually go once a month for my Pizza Cravings. I just can't eat much cheese any more.
