There is a very real Crisis happening in the USA, No one can have free speech anymore. Anything said that's not in line with the liberal sensibilities, is quickly shot down and the person is ostracized. These are true scary times. Hulk Hogan has been "fired" because of a racist comment made on a private sex tape. Paula Dean made a comment 20 years ago that someone overheard so she got blackballed from TV for a while. Even Donald Trump should have a right to say the dumb stuff that he's been saying without having every business fire him, but the US has really become an intolerant place to be.
In about 10 years or less, standup comedy will be banned, All of their material is at the expense of Minorities, fat people and non straight individuals.
Sorry to get serious but "Live and let live" is a thing of the past.

Oh man, I may be seriously and thoroughly f**ked. The exterior drive where I keep all my work seems to be dying and it won't even let me access the data to copy/move it someplace safe. This could be very, very bad, kids. Cei-U! I summon the impending catastrophe! UPDATE: Okay, crisis averted. All my irreplaceable files are now stored on Google Drive and my tech support-savvy nephew-in-law assures me he can retrieve the data I had to leave behind (my entire DC library). Whew!!! I've had several exterior hard drives go out on me. After a little searching I realized most of the problem is in the USB adapter, which goes out very easily. it will appear your hard drive is destroyed when you could actually open the case and remove the hard drive and install it in your computer just fine. Rather than buy exterior drives, I'd recommend installing a larger hard drive into your computer directly to the mother board with the SATA cable. If your motherboard and case support two drives (they probably do) you could just install that external into your computer for the cost of about two or three dollars. It would be basically the same, except you always know where your hard drive is, and never have to plug it in to use it. I have four hard drives stuffed in my case. All were salvaged from old computers and external hard drives I already had laying around. Two were thought to be broken until I busted them out of their cases. They all work fine now. Then again, exterior drives keep your data safer in case of power surges, lighting strikes etc.

Personally, I hope scumbag Paula Dean loses every single TV gig and endorsement and then invests all her money in pumpkin futures and decides to sell after Halloween.

There was a time when being openly gay was career suicide. Now being openly racist and bigoted is career suicide. I prefer things the way they are today.

There is a very real Crisis happening in the USA, No one can have free speech anymore. Is the government infringing on your right to speak your mind? Because I really don't see that. It's really scary when people are called to account for being jerks. Awful. Nobody seems to be telling The Donald he can't say ridiculous crap. He certainly seems to be doing it on a daily basis. Hmmmm...companies make business decisions about controversial people..and somehow that's intolerant. I thought that's how the "invisible hand of the market" is supposed to work. If it's bad for business you ditch it. Nobody is forcing those companies to get rid of those people. They're making a calculated business decision. This is really silly. What is possibly a thing of the past is there being absolutely no price to pay for being an asshole. Or maybe not. The Donald is an asshole on a daily basis and he seems to be doing just fine.

In that case I'd still rather buy an internal hard drive and one of those plug in docks like this one, they tend to not break down like the built in USB chip on internal hard drives

It's not satire, it's just my opinion. Once one person is prevented from saying what they think , all of us are in danger of having freedom of expression taken away. I never met a person on this planet that didn't say or feel a racist thought, and neither has anybody on this forum. To fire Hulk Hogan for a comment he made years ago is awful.

You have the right to speak up and defend racists, homophobes, sexists, religious zealots etc. etc. . Who's stopping anyone from doing such? Just don't expect a vast majority applauding you. At least I hope not

The things people are speaking up about is very selective. I see Christians getting bashed about opposing gay Marriage but i never see anyone protesting in front of a mosque. They are opposed to gay rights in every sense and are violent about it.

The things people are speaking up about is very selective. I see Christians getting bashed about opposing gay Marriage but i never see anyone protesting in front of a mosque. They are opposed to gay rights in every sense and are violent about it. Reason being is Islam doesn't have a huge successful lobby in America that actually strips rights away from American citizens, as Christians do. In fact, Islam has essentially zero influence in American politics, while every single American president since at least the industrial revolution has been Christian. People tend to be less concerned with the politics of foreign nations than they are with their own. On top of that, either the American brand of Islam is more moderate, or less vocal, but either way, if an American Muslim celebrity or spokesperson were openly bigoted against gays it would be career suicide as well. See, the reason being a racist is bad for Hulk Hogan or Dog The Bounty Hunter is because they are public figures. They are paid as entertainers. If they aren't entertaining, they don't get paid. Now, there are plenty of people saying racist and bigoted stuff and not getting fired, because they can still flip a burger just fine. It's a different standard. When you are a major public representative of a brand, the brand has every right to want you to be inclusive socially. Oddly enough, not a lot of Islamic fundamentalists are hired on as major public representatives of huge brands. Your right to be racist and bigoted is in absolutely no danger. Neither is your employers right to fire racists and bigots for making racist and bigoted statements publicly, on Twitter for example.

No one is prevented from saying anything, you're just not free from consequences. I think it's dumb that the Hulk got fired for something most of us will probably never be exposed to, but that's celebrity.
