Well, my day just took a turn for the worse. Got home from church and my wife noticed a yellowjacket on the inside of one of our windows, which was odd because our A/C has been on for the past day, so there have been no open doors or windows. Then she noticed another, and another, and another, and...you get the picture. We looked all over but couldn't find where they were entering the living space, but one step out onto our deck showed up where they were coming from: a dime-sized hole just on the outside of our gas-burning fireplace. Looks like they're getting into that space and slipping in through the vent, as I turn off the pilot light in the summer to conserve natural gas and reduce ambient heat in the room. One quick call to a highly-recommended pest control guy who specializes in stinging insects led to a $350 estimate for "emergency service" because it's a Sunday and it's something that I'm not going to mess with or let lie for a day. I'm obviously not happy about it, but I do thank God that He's blessed us enough so that we have a back-up fund to cover crap like this when it comes up. That's crazy! Hopefully no one was hurt. |

Update: My cousin was taken off the respirator this morning and passed away at 12:42 AM.

Kurt, sorry for your loss. I know what the anger of seeing someone kill themselves with tobacco, etc, feels like. We lost my mother-in-law to lung cancer.

Regarding the Hulk Hogan discussion I missed by not signing on over the weekend:
Is it fair that he lost his job for what he said in a private conversation? Maybe not. But he's a public figure so he shouldn't have been surprised. Since he let it be recorded.
Was it stupid to make a sex tape? Based on what usually seems to happen with them, yes.
Was it even stupider to using racial insults on a sex tape? Considering this was a "sex tape", why was their a conversation at all? Obviously a public figure whose livelihood relies on the public liking him, recording anything racially charged is moronic.
Did WWE have a right to fire him for dragging down their image and potentially their profits? Of course.
Was there any free speech infringement? Absolutely not. He can record himself saying the N-word all day long and post it on YouTube, and the government won't bother him in the least.
Bottom line: Public figure says something stupidly insensitive and let's it be recorded, then is surprised when someone releases it and it costs him his job. Moving on to the next stupid thing someone says publicly. Trump, you're on in 5, 4, 3, 2....
