Sitting in the waiting room at the hospital, waiting. The day is finally here when my wife is getting her knee replaced. Never would have guessed that of the two of us, she would be the first to go bionic. Just got texted from the OR (which is a little weird to me) that the procedure is going well. Fingers crossed and praying a lot that it will be over soon. Hope all goes well. My wife has had both her knees done. It was great that she was pain free for the first time in years.
Texts are a good thing. The waiting is hard on the family.
Be a good "coach" & makes sure she does her exercises at home.

Happy to report that the surgery went well. She has to stay overnight, and she's still a bit tired and groggy (understandably) but doing well and in good spirits. Thanks to all for the good wishes. Now comes the rehab and the hard work, but we're looking forward to her being pain-free at last.

I'm sure being pain free will be a BIG relief for her; there's nothing worse than having constant, nagging pain. It saps your morale and can very quickly lead you into a depressive state. Wishing her and you all the best, my friend.

Good luck to you and your wife, DE!
My mom got both knees remade a few years back. I was amazed to see how quickly she recovered, and I hope it will be the same for your wife. No more pain! Yay!

Question for those with knowledge of living down in the southern states: if you were in a BBQ joint in Mississippi or Alabama, and they had Tamales on the menu, would the Tamales all automatically have meat in them? Or could you order them with, like, cheese and vegetarian chilli in them? Attendant question, how easy (or not) is it to find vegetarian food in restaurants in the south? Asked a friend from Virginia, but who has been all over the South. As to tamales, they're time consuming to make and are done in big batches. So if they aren't on the menu in non-veggie form you're not likely to get them. And they're pretty much just a thing in Mississippi and Louisiana and parts of Alabama. Then there's the Mexican tamales which are a thing in the southwest and west. As to vegetarian food, you should be fine if you're in a bigger city. In the hinterlands you may have a harder time. However, it is pretty traditional in the South to have two or even three vegetables with meals. So you may be able to get sides of veggies. Though it's also possible they may have been cooked with meat or with animal fat. And also parts of Arkansas, I gather mostly over by the Mississippi Delta (I'm from the opposite lower corner of the state, where such things aren't really known, though looking back I think the bbq-&-smoked-meats place in the county seat offered tamales when I was a teenager). As communicated to Confessor elsewhere, I highly doubt any nonmeat tamales would be available from such outlets or for that matter from most Mexican places down here, which is a shame, because my own preferred taco is the green corn variety, which contains only cheese. Even the international market here doesn't carry what I'm looking for in its otherwise amply supplied frozen food section ... or, rather, the green corn tamales it has are sweet (they're apparently a traditional holiday treat), which most certainly is not what I'm after.

Added it, as I intended to before I had to leave for lunch. Still need to find a larger version, though.
