Question for those with knowledge of living down in the southern states: if you were in a BBQ joint in Mississippi or Alabama, and they had Tamales on the menu, would the Tamales all automatically have meat in them? Or could you order them with, like, cheese and vegetarian chilli in them? Attendant question, how easy (or not) is it to find vegetarian food in restaurants in the south? The thing with tamales as I understand it is they generally need to be made well in advance unlike say a burrito or taco, so it's probably going to be hard to order them vegetarian. That said, I know Trader Joe's sells some meatless ones. I think the breading might have lard in it, though, so depending where you fall between vegetarian and vegan it might be something to consider? As for finding vegetarian options, I think that will vary pretty widely by where you are in relation to a large or hipster town. Alanta, for example, should have have many options. Small town in the sticks between Alabama and Mississippi, though, maybe not.

Cool, Christina Ricci voices Terra in Teen Titans: The Judas Contract. I loved her in Monster and Black Snake Moan, as well as the Addams Family movies, so I'll definitely be checking out the DVD.

I broke down and purchased. Captain America : Civil War. I found the movie to be distasteful but I'm a completist when it comes to the Avengers Franchise.

I dont know about distasteful, but personally find the movie hard to rewatch. Its kind of lame, the big Civil War, which works in the comic because of the size of Marvels super population, is an ok battle scene that hardly compares to the Avengers movies, let alone the scale Civil War suggests. Watching the huge showdown as 10 or 12 heroes run across the tarmac at each other...im giggling.

The Winter Soldier really murdered Tony's parents. It wasn't a dream , Imaginary story or an imposter. I know the details but it still was ugly. And Cap being all in and just wailing away at Tony at the end left a bad taste in my mouth.

And Cap being all in and just wailing away at Tony at the end left a bad taste in my mouth. He did, but it wasn't of his own volition, so it makes for an interesting bit of ethical theory: can you really be held accountable for things done while under complete mind control? I tend to side with with Cap on that question; it was a terrible act but that wasn't Bucky and so we should want to help him not punish him. On Pete's issue; yeah the scale didn't really meet the scope the title suggested but it was still a fun ride.

Adoption Update: still on track to have him in our home permanently June 12. He is finishing his school year at his old school & spending weekends with us until then. Took him to my LCS this past weekend. He had never been in a comic book store. He had bought comics at a local Barnes & Nobles. He was overwhelmed (in a good way).
He decided to do a comic book theme in his bedroom. One of our family's summer projects will be repainting his room & attempting to do one wall with the silhouette of Gotham City. We already put up some comic book themed canvases on the walls.
We went to a baseball game (home team won!). I finally watched Guardians of the Galaxy with him. I had never seen the movie. He is a voracious reader & seems to have a wide variety of interests in what he reads. Besides comics he has read some Hardy Boys books & is reading a huge book I have about WWII.
Not that everything is all sunny. He has a lot of emotional issues that we will have to work thru as we earn his trust. It will be challenging but so worth it. I want him to be able to know parents that will love & protect him & not hurt him.

That is so cool. Glad things are still on track for his permanent homecoming date. His room sounds really cool too. Please post pictures of the finished product when it's done, if he doesn't mind.

Sitting in the waiting room at the hospital, waiting. The day is finally here when my wife is getting her knee replaced. Never would have guessed that of the two of us, she would be the first to go bionic. Just got texted from the OR (which is a little weird to me) that the procedure is going well. Fingers crossed and praying a lot that it will be over soon.
